Hallo,

I'm interested in the original crawl only, I have anyway already the SE one.... thanks for your offer!
I'm currently checking subtitles with Harmy's despecialized edition and it may be related to my habits and thousend times to see it in German...
...but after only watching a few scenes two comments:
3PO German speaker is really the best match ^^. Darth Vader in original English sounds much 'too normal' to me.
Ok, to stay on my issue: 'Schließt die Panzertüren' is missing in the original English version and therefore also in the German subtitles while most of them stick to the German original.
Another proof for me what a great artwork was done for the synchronization as this is a very precious add in my eyes ^^.
Ok may seem odd if there is a subtitle when no voice is heard on the other hand...... as I stated I wouldn't want to miss it.....
Sorry to hijack the thread, but we're having a discussion on the original sound mixes in the general sw forum, and the question of the international mixes came up and what differing content they have. I figured you guys might know best... Thanks and you may go back to your Gespräch!
What’s the internal temperature of a TaunTaun? Luke warm.
Thank you Mavimao!
That explains the missing lines.... and blame me to be addicted to the 85 version :).
What missing lines exactly? Just curious!
What’s the internal temperature of a TaunTaun? Luke warm.
There are several lines missing since the very first home video releases, though only lines coming from off-screen, so I didn't know about them until recently, because the German Blu-rays reinserted them for the very first time.
The lines are:
HAN: Seems okay, if we can get to it.
+
LUKE:Look! (both when the gang tries to escape from the DS)
LEIA: They're tracking us! (unfortunately this one is still missing, even from the Blu-ray)
LUKE: You know what's about to happen, what they're up against.
+
LUKE: Well, take care of yourself, Han.
The sentences around these lines were always kinda weird in the German version, but the fixed ones now make much more sense.
Also these lines of dialogue by Han and Luke disguised as stormtroopers are missing from some German mixes (the pre-THX ones, I think):
LUKE: I can't see a thing in this helmet.
+
HAN: This is not going to work.
LUKE: Why didn't you say so before?
HAN: I did say so before!
Also an update on the German version:
I've finished syncing up both the Blu-ray track and the THX track to Harmy's video, so now we have three audio options for the German Despecialization:
It would be very cool to have both a lossless recording of the 1993 version and the 1982 mix as well. Anybody able to help?
I just went through this thread (not finished yet - lots of information omg). Foung these precious links posted by Laserschwert earlier:

Here are overviews of the German releases:
There all differences done by specialized editions are listed precisely (In GERMAN language).
There I found that that the 'missing lines' were never missing in the German version but in the english one and added lateron. I'm talking about ANH just to make this clear, the other parts I did not start yet.

Found 4 spots:
- 'Der Fangstrahl ist an sieben Stellen mit dem Hauptreaktor verbunden.
Bei einem Energieverlust an einem der Anschlüsse, könnte das Schiff wieder starten.'
C3PO explaining how to deactivate the tractor beam which was also added in the newer English versions.
- 'Schließt die Panzertüren!'
This was never missing in the German version but in the first English one.
- 'Schön sachte. Ja, runterlassen.'
At lifting R2 into Luke's X-Figthter
- 'Er ist direkt hinter Dir!'
Death Star battle scene.
I have to add. I'm a true Star Wars fan but no 'scientist'. I just write what I found so far but would never pretend everything is 100 % true ^^.
JUST TO KEEP THE MOST IMPORTANT ISSUE IN FOCUS:

I've found this picture early in the topic :
Why are you use these white fonts ? Because it's the same as use in the original american version, or because it's was so in the original german version too ?
That's an old version (which does NOT look like the English subs)... actually I don't have any image of the German theatrical subtitles, so I made new ones that DO look like the English ones in Harmy's version (one of them still has a typo I'm gonna fix... see if you can spot it ;) ):
Found some Shots of the original one, I thought you wanted to preserve it as much original as possible? :D
I would prefer the yellow ones (^^ have to think of the before yellow and now white stripes on motorways):
Nearly the whole dialog compared with the new German ones are on this site (scroll down):
http://www.schnittberichte.com/schnittbericht.php?ID=463266
If I would prefer the old ones with the buggy translation? I don't know. But yellow I would prefer personally.
And 'Hierauf'....hmmmm 'Darauf' is better for sure... it sounds otherwise to overblown....
I hope you agree :).
And before I forget it... PLEASE REMOVE THE NEW GERMAN ORTOGRAPHY!
Of course I know about all the articles at Schnittberichte.de - but those are hardly the theatrical subtitles, as they were clearly NOT created optically. Those were re-created for the VHS release (and if they weren't made in the 80s, you'd assume they were made with Google translator, as they are terrible, wrong and stupid!).
So no, I'definitely WON'T use those as a template, neither in wording, color, position or anything.
About orthography, yeah, I'll use the old German orthography ("daß" instead of "dass"), which Sat.1 used for their own subtitles as well.

The only typo I see is : hierauf/darauf ?
I only see 'dass' instead of 'daß' ^^.
No, the typo is "Jabba hat einen Preis auf deinen Kopf ausgesetzt"... "deinen" should be capitalized as "Deinen".
"Hierauf" is absolutely correct, as it means "this", while "Darauf" would mean "that". But since Greedo hasn't yet said, WHAT he's looking forward to, "this" is the better choice. At least that's my explanation for it ;)
BTW, I'm working off the German dubbing scripts, so the subtitles are pretty much defined in there. All the "dass" will be replaced with "daß" of course.
Damn how could we overlook that ^^.
Thanks to TK-949 I now have the 1993 Laserdisc track as well. I still have to sync it to the video though.
There is a few screenshot from Super 8 Star Wars and there is some shots with the german title.
Perhaps you will have an interest about it :
any news guys?
