Well every time i finish a shot or a couple of shots in a scene, i render the whole scene, stick it on my USB stick and watch it on my TV. This is a better way to see if the shots are working (you can miss stuff on a 24" monitor). Problem is that sometimes i end up uploading a previous render. But i'm usually not too bothered if i do that unless there is a glaring error in the video. All the finished files are there intact on the video timeline so a mistake in an uploaded video won't be there in the completed movie.
