This day is about those 1,316,428 (and those who died in other conflicts not listed)  who died for our country(and all the rest who served and still serve).   Everyone of those casualties had a mother, a father, and maybe had brothers and sisters and aunts and uncles and spouses and children who loved them and had to suffer their loss.  This is the day for remembering that.

God Bless all who died, all who served, all who still serve, and all those who will serve, and May God Bless the United States of America

I've hardly been on the site, and when I am, it's just for quick glances.  But this is a worthwhile cause to celebrate, and I too am grateful for the men and women who sacrificed their lives for the freedoms we in the U.S. enjoy.  May God watch over you all till the resurrection of the dead.  Thanks for the thread, Warbler.

It's another case of a thread a year when one good thread would probably serve better.

Don't worry I shan't bump every Memorial Day thread like I did the Christmas or New Years ones (partly because the last time I commented on a thread like this one I was slagged off for suggesting war wasn't a good idea).

One of the bad sides of having an unmoderated Off Topic board is nobody cares about merging threads like these so they become annual stump shrines rather than snowballing into interesting topics.

This is my last word in this thread as I'm bound to be accused of picking on Warb or being disrespectful of the dead or mocking rabid nationalism or something.

The other sub-forums are moderated and those threads often don't get merged either.  Just look at all the redundant threads in General SW Discussions.
