I found this interesting.  Talks about DTS 6.1 Discrete (ES) and such.  I don't know if it would be applicable to some of the stuff we might have in ES.

:)

Yes please!

Thanks for keeping an eye out. The first MK is the one I really want to see happen, since the DTS LD version blows the Blu Ray track out of the water.

Might be worth keeping an eye out for The Shadow in case Universal screws up the forthcoming Blu Ray. Although there was an early full frame DVD with a full bitrate DTS track?

Do all of the CD's generally have the same sort of labels? I've only seen the Star Wars SE discs in person, and a couple of the others on Ebay.

I already HAVE The Shadow ....... ;)  And yes, all the theater DTS discs have the same look .....  :)

WANT!

How many of these found discs are ready to go as DTS-MA?

You are kidding I hope ..... :)

As I mentioned earlier in the thread, they are decoded in to separate reels, so if the movie discs have 7 reels of .aud or .aue, they are now 7 reels of multichannel .wav files by me.  I am a mere amateur at figuring out how to accurately edit all the files together and sync them properly to video.

Now, we have some people in the forum that can do this but they are either busy with other projects, busy with life, or not interested in assisting for their own reasons.

With those things being said I don't believe they are in a place where you'd be able to take them to DTS-MA status (which I have the software for as well) unless you are capable of doing the editing needed to get them there.

Wow, I'm outta breath on that one ..... LOL.  D_J should have the files he needs for this from me within the next couple of days and as I understand it from him, he is able to do the editing and synch.

I was not asking for them all tomorrow, just wondering how many are done.

Chill out a little!

I know JP was done and finished as i have it synced up, I was just wondering how things were going!

Anyone know if The Crow is out there, I am working on a re-edit and wondered if the original audio is about?

Don't worry, I'm not yelling ..... hence the :) .....

At this point, the ONLY ones finished that I am associated with directly are the SE Trilogy ones.  Jurassic Park was done by my inspiration for all this ..... borisanddoris and eldonante.  So that makes 4 ..... not a lot I know but this is still in the early stages of this type of archive and preservation.

I KNOW I have the DVD DTS audio for The Crow as I still own the Miramax/Dimension 2 Disc set.  I just bought the Bluray and only watched it once ..... it looks pretty nice but with the age and effects of the time there is probably only so well for it too look.

Hi.

It would be great to get my hands on the Matrix Trilogy and the Nolan Batman DTS mixes.

I gather they are decoded to seperate wav's for each reel and I would just need to sync up to the Blu rays or best Picture source available, with a DTS - HD master audio encode at the end for the final preservation?

Totally off topic, but I can't believe there is a Commodore Schmidlapp on this board.  So awesome.

For Matrix 1, the best source is a torrent someone uploaded in RuTracker in March based off of an old HDTV capture. It therefore has unaltered color timing. It is open matte but could be cropped if necessary. I find when you do that though it comes out to be a bit zoomboxed (missing image on the top, bottom, left, and right).

No need to gather, they were found and decoded by myself.  They do need to be spliced together and then be synched up to a video.  The small issue I see is that due to the editing not being a perfect match, usually the audio is being time shifted to match the video.  Since I am not an audio editing expert I cannot tell you how it might affect the quality of those sections but as a whole it's been effective.

Jetrell, remind me again if you're pulling out the LFE from the surrounds, as well as adjusting the dB level of the surrounds and the subsequent LFE channel.  Or are you just ripping the 5 main channels and not touching them at all?

The custom proggie that I use decodes into multichannel .wav files which include an LFE derived from the surrounds.  They are done by reel as you know with your own experience with these discs.  I believe only 1 person has received decoded files from me in this configuration.  At present he has not listened to them yet as they are finalizing their video end before going in to the A/V synch stage.

He has explained to me that when they get there they will update us all on the progress.

Neat!  Can you possibly share with me said custom proggie? ;)

I'm doing work on the theatrical Pearl Harbor trailer as we speak.  Don't have the best of video sources, but yes, I do have the DTS audio from a trailer disc from 2001.

Got that version and synced the original R1 DVD Dolby 5.1 mix to it.

Might be worth making 2 versions for both the HDTV and bluray versions.

Would be nice if somebody colour corrected the BR to the theatrical colour timings for a complete preservation.

How is the HD-DVD color timing presentation as compared to the Bluray/HDTV ones?

I just want to say this .....

This particular form of audio preservation isn't without it's pitfalls.  How I decode the encoded stuff especially.  I do not have a problem decoding audio for people to use.  As for the software used for the process, it is a singular creation that had a lot of time and research put in to it to make it come this far.

The anonymity of my partner and all my fellow members is always on the forefront of my concerns so that we are all able to enjoy the spoils of the battle.

My internet connection isn't a viable solution for online transfer useage.  I can however offer being able to send out a particular request already decoded so that one could make a go at a project they feel strongly about.

Please send any further interests on this matter to me in pm.

Thanks

I think there the same masters, theres a project of sorts already

http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/The-Matrix-with-original-theatrical-color-timing/topic/13657/

but it is more instructions on where to get the best materials and mux it altogether yourself. Not really a finished disc at the end.

There is discusion in there about how awesome the audio mix was at the cinema compared to the home video releases, with the original R1 discs AC3 track being the best available.

The Cinema DTS track would be perfect.

I do appreciate the kind words.  There are others here who endeared me to and supported this quest like borisanddoris, Eldonante, Silverwook, Capablemetal, D_J, and all the others who've posted requests and asked questions to help move things forward.  They all deserve just as much if not more thanks than me.
