I got one of those measure shape depth tools lol...
Definitely diffuse whatever you light it with though... I don't know what light you are planning to use for the overall set light... I would suggest halogen though and diffuse it with one of these.

one last thing light it from both the left and the right atleast 2 lights.. even better if you can get halogen lamps with dimmer control.
