Now it is official, we have our final settings for T2 and it's the ones you saw in the screenshots above.
Since you might not notice the improvement in detail in those shots, I'm putting another shot here in full resolution, before and after. This time the first shot is raw, so it's even got the wrong aspect ratio.

Great work i can definitely see the extra detail coming through especially in the lighter areas in the backround.
Those screenshots look awesome by the way, and I agree the removal of the pink does make the skin tones look a lot better.
Sorry to derail slightly but I was just thinking back to previous transfers of the film and remember one transfer looking very purple instead of blue especially as far as the lighting at night goes. Does anyone know which release had this? I thought it might be the laserdisc but could be wrong. It's been a while since I reviewed all the available transfers.

For now vbangle we are not 100% sure if these will be BD25 or BD50, we already have the video's pretty much done for both and Jonno was gracious enough to get me the Theatrical audio for T2 and I am working on doing a new synch job with a newly bit perfect LD PCM rip for T1, and we only have 1 definite extra lined up for T1 which is the Making of, we have a captured file and a DVD on the way so we will need to see which will work out better for this project.

Yeah, one of the worst things of this transfer is how blown out the whites are. There's almost no detail to dig up there. In a proper transfer there should've been a lot more detail in the bright areas.
So how is the first TERMINATOR coming along? I would love to see that with proper color timing.
Also, has anyone thought of tackling the SUSPIRIA blu-ray to fix at least the more blatant contrast issues (such as the hot pink academy exteriors when Daniel approaches)? I'm trying to work on a guy on Teh Paradox, but I don't think he's interested.

I'd rather not pay $60 to import the Japanese release when I have the movie on virtually every other format.
Why? We want the cds audio and the directors cut so we went for the theatrical.
The special was just that, something fun for fans shame ruined the audio tho
Isn't the directors cut also known as the extended edition?
No it was always the special edition, Cameron had final cut the directors cut was the theatrical version the laserdisc confirms this

We did try and You_Too has said it just can't be done with any of the BD releases, I will let him explain why when he sees this post, he said it would be easier to just upscale the Anchor Bay DVD since everyone seems to think it has the correct color, but I have not given up on it just yet, plus I still need the bit perfect PCM rip from the Suspiria Laserdisc.
Can't be done with a script? How about the hard way, frame by frame manually?
About Suspiria: All the blu-rays look horrible thanks to oversaturation in some parts as well as very crushed whites and blacks in other parts. There is no way to bring back something that's not there.
The only version that seems to look very good is the Swedish Atlantic Film DVD. Check this comparison: http://caps-a-holic.com/vergleich.php?vergleichID=123
Unless a new version in HD is found, the only thing that could be done is to upscale that DVD.

Whoa! I've only ever seen this film once, but how could anyone have approved a transfer like that? Changing color timing is one thing but there is nothing there in those images, everything is blown out to the extreme.

I can supply you with a 1080p version of the Japanese blu, which apparently has much better shadow detail than the UK or French releases.
I would do everything short of beg to see someone tackle this (at least a good sweep to balance the colors. No one is speaking of increasing detail, but just fixing the Hot Pink school entrance shots), as I do like the overall picture of the UK blu... it's just those 4 or 5 scenes (most involving the outside of the Dance Academy and the close up shot with Sarah's throat when it gets cut) that need work.

I've already checked the different blu-ray releases of Suspiria for DJ and I say it's no use. They all look too bad and have too much crushed blacks and whites to be restored.
As for that project that Jetrell Fo linked, judging by the screenshot comparison the so called restored and preserved version is suffering from very heavy aliasing, even worse than the GOUT. Maybe they tried to upscale a DVD version and merge it with a blu-ray or something? It sure looks bad in those screens anyway.
Now let's move the Suspiria discussion to that thread instead.

OK so our cover guy needs this image from our version, where the heck is this shot lol? I have gone over it several times lol and cannot find it, my eyes must really be playing tricks on me.
