Edit: Just realized there have in fact been HD airings of the US cut. Amazing.
There was an effort a few years ago to reconstruct the US cut using the DVD and the Bill Conti soundtrack CD. I contributed a rip of the LD to use as a guide, but never heard back from the gentleman. (http://donnybahama.wordpress.com/2010/05/16/the-big-blue/)
