Wow... can't wait to finish the download for this, and get my hands on the other 2 movies. Can't believe I just found out a few days ago about the original release back in '06? And now this project.. holy crud!

Well so far, by looking at the before/SE/after screenshot (all youtube link are dead) I'm impressed. Can't wait to see this version... should be nice.

So if I may, a quick question: Is Harmy's work done? Found some download links to a few versions, but with thread going into the 100 page count. Not always easy to follow.

So someone, please correct me if I'm wrong here:

Star Wars : v2.1

Empire: v1.0

Jedi: v1.0

Started downloading Star Wars, but would rather wait and see if the other 2 are "finished" if you see my meaning.

Later.. be good.

Yes that's correct. He just released SW 2.1, and will soon release an updated 2.5 for his blu-ray release.  He is planning on doing a 2.0 for ESB and Jedi, but hasn't started on those yet, so it may be a while.

Thanks for the reply ...

2.5 eh? (facpepalm) Guess I'll cross the slow-download bridge when I get there lol

And from what I've read Empire & Jedi are worth it correct?

IMO they're arguably the best video presentation of these films to date (certainly ESB IMO, ROTJ has some noticeable problems).  But, unlike Star Wars 2.5, you just don't feel like you're watching it in the theatre again when you watch ESB and ROTJ 1.0.  It still feels like home video in far too many ways (color, detail, etc).

For now.

As much as I love Star Wars DE I am really looking forward to Empire. Can't wait for screenshot to start appearing.

The Fanboy in me is going to cum. :)

looking for HDTV of the  Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith.  Also HDTV of The Lord of the Rings trilogy

So hold off on ESB/ROTJ then...

Well I guess I can stick to those theatrical DVDs from '06. I really want to hear Vader say "Bring my shuttle" rather than "Oh shoot, well ok get me a cab please". Honestly the quality doesn't bother that much, but if I can get that in HD all the better.

Just happy I got to show my daughter the version I grew up with and saw in the theaters so many years ago.

Too bad we can't contribute (money wise I mean). From the multiple threads/replies I've read... Harmy needs more HDD space :)

What? No! That's not what I was trying to say, if you got that from me.  I'm saying that ESB and ROTJ 1.0 are much, much, much, MUCH better than the 06 Bonus Disc version, VHS version, Laserdisc version, or what-have-you.  They're even better than the Blu-ray versions if you consider those to be the same films.  They are the best things to ever hit any video format, officially or unofficially (IMO, YMMV).

This project is well past the point of trying to make the best home video presentation.  Been there, done that.  Now it's trying to be competitive with 35mm film.  Star Wars 2.x is already there.  ESB and ROTJ 1.0 are not, but that certainly doesn't mean they're not way better than those damned bonus discs.

Ah sorry, I missed understood then :)

Didn't purchase the Blu-Ray, I knew he had made changes and since I own many previous version (and didn't really like the prequels) I didn't bother getting it. Funny, just reading over the newest changes and quite happy I didn't get it.

Okie okie then.. I'll get Harmy's Empire & Jedi once Star Wars is done. Thanks again..

Hum, to be fair, you'll have to purchase the Blu-rays of at least the original trilogy as it is required by Harmy to download his work because his main source are the Blu-rays. You might not like it, but that's the condition that gives a (very little) sense of legality to Harmy's project. I, myself bought a lot of Star Wars discs since I discovered this project (the '06 DVDs that I didn't own and the Blu-rays of the Complete Saga).

"Let's face it, the Ewoks sucked, dude" -Hurley, Lost 5x13-Some like it Hoth.

Please bear with me if I tend to get too excited about anything or say too much, I have issues.

But by that logic, one would need to purchase all the original reference materials no?

Guess I can get the Blu-Rays... pretty cheap anyway.. I guess.

The logic here is that you should own the official HD version to (more or less just morally) justify downloading an HD fan edit/preservation. This is the rule for all HD fan edits and preservations, not just this one.

No worries... wasn't trying be a d@#$ More or less a comment mixed into a question I guess.

Like I said, I can add another version.. I "almost" have every version right up until '04. The trick will be getting that past the wife.. mind tricks won't work on her (kinda why I married her).

It's not like you have to have it on your shelf next to your other movies.  It works as a boat anchor, chicken coop floor, toilet-tank-water-saver-brick, you name it.  It does not have to be in playing condition in order to fulfill its function (allowing fan edit ownership).  Pitch it as a water-saving device, you'll probably be more convincing.

Hmm. I had that happen with the hosted archives too. If you want a MySpleen invite so you can get it from there (that definitely does work) gies a PM.
