I have lost track really. I don't have the super8mm from Ken Films, or super8mm full prints or 16mm reductions. But pretty much have every usa NTSC Vhs release. Every DVD release , all the domestic lasers exept for the 1989 widescreen. Japan initial defninitive release, and special collections. Even phantom menace on laser with burnt in subs cause it was the only decent theatrical release, the vhs was crap.
Star Wars was just my kind of story growing up, i love the original movies more than any film ever made, except for Lord of the rings. i have so many copies of that on DVD but not so close to star wars. I have bought star trek films in very many formats too, as well as indiana jones and back to the future.
Actually i loved the films in my childhood but never had a vcr then. Only sometimes saw then on HBO over at my dad's house who had cable.
It was not until many years after that i became a superfan which i blame on the Zahn Trilogy which totally hooked me in. Which i read the first two volumes of in eighth grade.
It was High School really when i became a fanatic fan of Lucas and StarWars basically the age of the internet, and also the Jedi Bendu starkiller page shares a lot of blame for rekindling my passion for the hobby.

I'll have to explain a little for my collection...
I have only bought 2004 trilogy from retail and the only reason I'm keeping it is the extra disc. THX and SEs were bought to me as a gift. THX was the first one I ever owned so I had to get it. And at that time I thought the SEs were "cool" so wanted them, too.
All others were bought second handed. Other SE trilogy I bought for 50 cents. I don't remember how much the third one cost but it wasn't much. 2006 DVD tin box was 30 euros, second handed. Cheapest and the only one I've ever seen on sale here. Executor box was the most expensive but I'm keeping it for the cool extras. And all the rental versions are just because I'm a collector, they're the first ones and they are a piece of SW history.

Oh yeah i have the executor box and no way to play it because it is pal,lol.
Just like i have the pre thx french laserdiscs and the first issue UK lasers. All in pal. I also have the trilogy in CED without a player.

There are PAL/NTSC duel format players (mine is a JVC player intended for use in a car) and I think most modern flatscreens will convert any signal, my last CRT telly played NTSC tapes via a duel format player perfectly well.
Three times: The Faces VHS set back in 97 (or my parents did)
Then I received the 04 DVDs for Christmas of that year
Then I bought the GOUT reissue in 2009.

I already owned the "faces" VHS set. And I have "Star Wars SE" and "Jedi SE" on VHS.
Shortly after it became clear Lucas wasn't lying when he said the OOT wouldn't be on VHS, I bought a bootleg DVD of the laserdisc rips from eBay.
After discovering fan-edits, I bought the GOUT DVD sets to 'legalize' it.

I've sold everything except the hologram VHS set, the 8mm, all the LDs and the DVDs (and I still have the original SW CBS/Fox VHS box, but the tape isn't original). I've never bought any of the Prequels on video, but my Aunt gave me TPM on letterboxed VHS in a deluxe box with a film cel, but I returned it to Best Buy unopened.
Add the BD Saga to my list, bought it second hand though.

I have been lucky I guess, as I held onto the original theatrical version VHS tapes for a long, long time. I bought the 1997 SE VHS when that came out too, but always preferred to watch my old VHS tapes as they were the ones I grew up with the most. Then later, I bought the 2004 DVD box set and wasn't happy with that, and thus began the laserdisc collecting.
1. Was given the "Faces" VHS set as a kid as a gift.
2. Was given the DVD set for my birthday in 2004.
3. Was given TPM and AOTC for Christmas later that year.
4. Bought ROTS from CVS/Pharmacy the day it came out using my employee discount.
5. Bought 2006 ANH DVD when it came out.
6. Bought 2006 ESB DVD used from my comic shop later.
7. Bought 2006 ROTJ DVD from Best Buy later.
8. Bought the Gold Case Special Edition VHS set from a flee market just to have it.
9. Pre-Ordered the Blu-ray set from Wal-Mart.

That's not the order in which I bought them. I got the THX Widescreen set two years ago, and just got the 1992 letterbox edition set last week. I also have the 1995 "From Star Wars to Jedi" re-release with the FACES box art. I also have all of the prequels on DVD in addition to The Phantom Menace widescreen VHS collector's set.

I bought the 2004 SE release (WS) once on both VHS and DVD formats. I still have the VHS set, but I had to sell the DVD set when I was unemployed for a little spare cash. I wish I hadn't, now that I see how much it costs on Amazon. I really wish I could find a DVD copy of the OT without all the extra CGI garbage and the crap from the prequels added in. Promus has told me that such a thing does not exist, so I guess I'm out of luck.
8 times in order of acquisition.
Number 8 is the original LD release of Star Wars and is still sealed, I never intend to open it.
Owning the Special Edition Trilogy on LaserDisc was an accident. I made a list of things I wanted for X-Mas and my father bid on the wrong set, he was supposed to get the Definitive Collection.
I have since sold the Fox Video Widescreen VHS and Faces VHS.
