As one of only 111,507 shareholders, controlling 0.00000021057463712725657045511496322314% of the team, I say with every fiber of my being: Go, Pack, Go!

Normally, I might say something nasty about da Bears...but I'm not even going to bother. They are not going to be good enough for me to waste the cells on my fingertips. Neither are the Vi-Queens.

Sell! Sell! Sell!

Wait, you'd probably lose money.

I payed $200 for that 1 share.

I get no dividends or any other monetary concessions.
Only voting rights every year to determine who goes on the Board of Directors/Executive commitee.

As for "selling" it...hate to burst your bubble, but if I put that stock on Ebay (assuming it was legal for me to do that), I can probably double my money, if not triple/quadruple it.

man! that is the way every sports team should be run! Let the fans own 'em! At least that way cities wouldn't be forced to shell out billions for new stadiums or watch the team leave. If the fans owned the team they wouldn't let 'em move. That's the way it ought to be. If they started selling stock in the Eagles I'd give up all my life savings just for 1 share if I had too.

Well, it wouldn't rule out cities needing to pay for stadiums.

Lambeau recently finished a $200+ million renovation, and a fair sized chunk of that money came from a new Brown county tax.
Author
Time
how did that happen!?! I mean can't believe the Packers could've put a gun to Brown county and told them "either do the renovations or we move". I mean, the stockholders would be able to prevent the team from moving right?
Author

Well, no, the Packers wouldn't move, but there are other things that they could have done, including (my head swells as if to explode at this thought) building a new stadium.
And I am serious about that.

In 1998, the first shareholders meeting after that 1997 sale, they held the meeting in Lambeau. The board was worried about Green Bay's ability to compete monetarily, with non-publicly owned teams.
Lambeau, being as old as it was, doesn't have as many of one thing that many newer stadiums has. Luxury suites.
The board, actually spoke of building a new stadium, but the people wouldn't hear of it.
They also spoke of PSLs (Personal Seat Licences), which didn't go over very well either.
In the end (at subsequent meetings I wasn't able to attend), a large-scale rebuilding was decided on. The vast majority of the outside has been rebuilt, large numbers of luxury suites were added, along with several tiers of new stands, some of which are specifically reserved for residents of the county. Part of the deal that got the tax passed.
There was actually trouble getting support for the tax, because many residents knew they'd never even get tickets for what they were being taxed on. So, something like 2000 seats per game are specifically reserved for Brown County residents.

Otherwise, I think the season ticket wait is somewhere in the 40-50 year range.

The construction process and PSLs remind me of Soldier Field down here. I have yet to see the finished product with the whole "flying saucer" nestled in the middle of our otherwise beautiful stadium. I've only seen photos. I want to see it in person, but haven't gotten down there. But I was receiving e-mail after e-mail after e-mail a year or so ago about PSLs. I think they are a complete load of crap. But apparently some did sell. Expensive mothers. But, then, what football ticket isn't expensive these days? Only damnable thing about playing only once a week... the premium price on the tix.

You should have heard the uproar here in Cleveland when they decided to use PSLs here.

People weren't happy.
The idea that you need to pay $4000 per seat for the 5-year rights to buy tickets for that seat is insane.

Luckily, the Packers aren't doing that.

PSLs should be outlawed! its highway robery! Another thing I can't stand is selling the naming rights of the Stadium. Glad that didn't happen with Lambeau or Soldier Fields. But, it did happen here! I could think of much better names for our field than Lincoln Financial Field.

I hate to bring it up...but there are elements of the Packers company that would entertain bids for corporate naming rights.

The good news, though, is that IF it was ever decided to do it, there is a guy already collecting money to have the fans pay for the rights and keep the name as it is.

how low can they go?!? Wouldn't the stock holders be able to block an attempt to sell the naming rights of Lambeau? E-A-G-L-E-S-EAGLES!!

Mark my words... next superbowl, the Tenesse Titans will win. Don't ask me why, 'cause I don't know why, I just know that the Tenesse titans will go to the superbowl and they'll win.

Titans will be good, no question. But I'm thinking either the Seahawks or the Vikings might give 'em a run. I'd love to see the Seahawks do it. I dig on Shaun Alexander and Matt Hasselbeck.

I don't know all the details of the relationship between the Packers and the shareholders, but I think our role in the grand scheme of things is in voting on board/commitee members. I'm not sure we would have any power over a decision like that.

However, I'm sure that IF it was done, a united shareholder voice against the plan would be heard and considered.

Ahhh... the NFL season started in grand fashion with a great game between the Pats and the Colts. Did anyone watch it? Can't believe Vanderjagt... wide right.

Good call. That's what I was shooting for with that and the "wide right" comment. Actually, "wide right" also works with Scott Norwood back in Super Bowl XXI. But that's another story.

Sunday we'll know if my Seahawks are for real. If they are, the Saints should be left flat on the field.
