Raiders of the Lost Ark - Special Edition? — Page 2

I don't really have a problem with grand or understated. My problem with it, is that it takes focus away from the characters and story. To me, the scene is about Obi-Wan and Luke entering the city in kind of a 'here goes nothing' sense. The scene isn't about what some random Jawa happens to be doing at that time.

TR47 - I don't know the origin my Indy dvds, but they do have animated menus and I did get them about 2 years ago.

According to George the stormtrooper bumming his head is a reflection of there DNA. We see Jango bump his head in Attack of the Clones.

So, effectively, they're all just bumbling idiots?

If there is, @ least we still have the original.

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

And, thankfully, on DVD to boot. Shame it's not that way with the holiest of trilogies.

You've already got a review done or is this just your plan?

Okay, here's the BIG DIFFERENCE between the disease known as Lucasism and normal directors. Lucas completely stamps out the original versions of his films (THX 1138, Star Wars Trilogy). Other directors don't usually. Spielberg's E. T. The Extra-Terrestrial DVD contained THE THEATRICAL VERSION as well as the Special Edition. He didn't pretend E. T.'s original version did not exist, but he updated it anyway. I don't give a rat's ass if they do this to Raiders of the Lost Ark, because I have a pristine Lowry-restored official DVD of the 1982 theatrical version sitting on my shelf as we speak. He didn't stamp the original out. So let him do what he wants. Who cares. You have your film in the medium you wanted it in. I guarantee if GL released the original cuts of the Star Wars movies, nobody would care if he put out the SE's as well, as long as the originals were out, and no-one would criticize him as badly as they do for making the SE.

I'm on my way over to the general thread.

Are you implying that Gundark has gay fantasies of you flying into his bedroom window in a nightshirt?

I'm ok with an SE Raiders as long as the original is on dvd and as long as they don't use CGI to change the swordsman so he has a gun and shoots 1st.

Definutly. Id be seriously pissed off. Thats my favorite part of the series. I love how it sets up a big action scene just for him to get shot. Who can forget Indys I don't have time for this look.

Speaking of Raiders (one of my all-time favorite movies), does anyone know where I can buy JUST the Raiders DVD from the 4-disc Indiana Jones set? Having all three films simply isn't worth the cost to me; as much fun as Temple of Doom and Last Crusade are, I don't need to own them as Raiders is the true classic. Not to mention that it annoys the crap out of me that Lucasfilm isn't releasing them separately. Screw 'em, I'll buy a used copy of Raiders somewhere else!!

Try eBay

Gentlemen, you can’t fight in here, this is the war room!

eBay would be your only hope since they never sold them separately in retail stores.
