that's a very selfish attitude. Like I said, I guess I just don't get the UK.

I couldn't stand George W. Bush. But if/when he dies (assuming I outlive him), I am not going to celebrate his death.

I suppose you can make an excellent argument for why the family should pay for the funeral themselves. But it is not unusual for the government to pay for the funeral of someone who was its leader. I am sure my government always pays for the funerals of ex-Presidents.
