I'd hesitate to even call myself a fan. It is kind of a fun show, and sometimes I find myself really enjoying it, but ultimately, I could take it or leave it. As for watching the old ones, I've tried, and yes, even Tom Baker. I just found them really silly and very slow moving.

And I can totally understand where you are coming from. I feel that way with Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek, and so many other things.
