Utterly bored with these new episodes. Not sure what it is, but they are just entirely uninteresting, and not at all what I've come to expect from Doctor Who.
I've never seen any old Doctor Who. My first episode was catching Girl in the Fireplace on Sci-fi channel and thinking it was kind of silly, but also had a really cool and creepy thing going on.
Years later a girl I had recently met told me I needed to watch the show. The only previous thing she recommended to me was American Gods, which is now one of my favorite books, so I decided I'd give Doctor Who a shot. She'd never seen the old ones either, and had me start with Eccleston. I thought it sucked, but occasionally found an episode really intriguing (The Empty Child), and she assured me it got better, so I kept watching. Still not a huge fan, but I do enjoy it.
Anyway, I've been watching The Doctors Revisited series the BBC has been doing for the 50th, and am kind of enjoying it. If anyone doesn't know what it is, it is a series of short retrospects on previous Doctors followed by a selected story from that time. They are airing one per month, with January being dedicated to the first Doctor, February to the second, and so on. I've only seen the first two so far, but it is kind of cool to see some of the history of the show. I have zero interest in wasting time going back and watching classic Doctor Who, but I have always had a bit of curiosity as to what they were like. This is kind of a nifty, easily accessible way for me to do so without wasting a lot of time on it. And since the current season is absolute crap so far, it is kind of nice to still have something Doctor Who related to look forward to every now and then.
