From what I've read and seen, the 3D version of Beauty and the beast was altered a lot here and there.

First of all the color timing has been changed once again, and while overall more technically correct, I doubt it's what it originally looked like. I saw the movie in the theater way back, and while I can't remember how it looked, I think I've seen film cell scans on the web where it looked like it had the pink-ish tint of the old releases.

And second, they've changed colors for specific scenes here and there.

They also made some other alterations.

This video compares the two blu-ray releases. At 1:15 you can see the tree on the left side is blurred in the diamond edition but sharp in the 3D.

This site shows some of the other changes compared to older releases.

Not bashing your idea, but I think that the only way to really bring this film back would be to find an original print and get it scanned and restored.
