Yeah, I installed SP2 and then uninstalled it in one day. DUDE - It must be this damn Service Pack 2 -

I REALLY need a clean install of XP - BUT I have a new HD coming so I'll wait until it gets here so I can back-up my HD (all my covers and art+my music!)
After that I will NOT install the service pack 2 untill the updates start to roll-out and work

Yeah you're right, I'll re-splice the CD and just keep using SP1 anyway. They want to make you think you have to have automatic updates turned on, and waste processor power checking if your virus scanner is there; SYMANTEC ARE YOU THERE? YOUR VIRUS SCANNER IS WORKING FINE, TY. Won't make much difference, as SP2 sucks. Besides the fact the firewall is joke as everyone expected, they have implemented other so called security features and fixes that stop programs from functioning correctly, including their own. lol

Anyway, I think SP2 is fine otherwise, the firewall can be disabled and you do not have to have automatic updates on either if you do not want to. I myself prefer a third-party firewall to the Windows firewall thingy.
If you want to get rid of the "hey, your updates are not on" etc balloons in the system tray, you can disable the "security center" service in control panel -> admin tools -> services. That won't disable firewall or the updates, only the balloons... well, enough rambling there's plenty of fixes/hacks for SP2 on the net.

WTF!
BUT I was able to restore them to working order after I uninstalled them and ran RegCleaner to remove all the stuff - then IT WORKED!!
So MAYBE SP2 has some flaws but I'll wait until some more updates and patches pop up then I'll do it again.

Speaking of firewalls, what's a good, free third-party firewall? I ask because I'm currently using a now unregestered Norton Security '03(came pre-installed) and I'm sending my machine back to the company for repairs, so I may lose it.(it's a great ad-blocker, which is why I kept it.) Also, how does one disable the "you are running out of disc space" balloon? I download often, so I keep seeing that. It bugs the hell out of me.

Im new to this forum and i wanted to download the TR47 versions. But i cant seem to get the Torents to work, all i get is : Connecting to Peers.

No it's a totally new version - I need to go to my remote PC and grab the HD so I can burn it and check it out

Source is the 9-disc LaserDisc set, the best available source for these versions of the movies. Try Kerio, it's supposed to be good and I think they have a free version, too. ZoneAlarm is OK but it has compatibility problems with *lots* of stuff, I hear.
I don't know how to disable those disk space balloons, other than you can get a Samsung 160GB 7,200 rpm hard drive with a 8MB cache for about $80-$90 or so...
... there's even cheaper 160 GB drives around there but Samsungs are really quiet and they give ok performance with good rpm and cache size.EDIT:
Ooooooh, yet one more version of the OT ? Sounds great, but with my current torrent cutoff problems, I'd like to get an expert's opinion on that before getting it ... hopefully some "unbiased" person will give us some first-hand experience insight on the quality and such ?
