so if i kill off Boba Fett , and that there would be no way he could possibly survive, yet he turns up in the ST then how do you explain that? you can't. I'm not prepared to tie myself down to anything that may appear in the new films. Sorry, but Revisited will only be able to be watched as a 6 films saga, unless by some miracle nothing conflicts with the new films.

Ady,

I am more excited for your Revisited versions than the New Trilogy.

I still have a sour taste from the Menace that Lucas gave us...Even with JJ Abrams, and all the returning cast, I still don't know if it will be what everyone thinks it will be.

I think your plan to move ahead and not care about what the new trilogy brings is the right call in my book.

Great update on your wonderfully ambitious plans for those remaining HD versions, adywan!  (And I'm already delighted about a little sfx enhancement I didn't know you were planning, which you mentioned during your recent comments on FB.  It's definately something I *really* hoped to see!)

I'm pleased to see that if things get a little bogged down on any specific future shots for any reason, then giving yourself the option of jumping back-and-forth between the various instalments *simultaneously* will certainly help to keep things moving on with the project overall, as well as keeping things varied for you.

But I'm now interested to know if you intend to start *simultaneous*, seperate, individual 'Revisited' threads for each of these instalments when the time comes...as I definately reckon any potential ideas/and thoughts/and screenshots/(and 'funnies') from everyone will be far easier for you (and us) to follow/and add to/and respond to, if seperate 'update/suggestion' threads such as this one are used.

Hey, Adywan. I just wanted to thank the Re-Creater for all the hard work he put in. This will be your legacy, man.

In spite of all we think of the Prequels, the good or bad, why not take the challenge of trying to enhance and improve Lucas' storyline that's already in them? What with all the work you plan to do (that'll pretty much change the entire face of the Prequels, anyway) why not just stay true to a purist's mentality by just tweaking and cutting out minor scenes like the Phantom Editor has done? And whatever needs to be added to improve the storyline, then just add it, like what you did with ANH R.

Well anyway, it just seems a bit extreme to me to gut out and change the films into something that will make them unrecognizable, if that's even possible. I know that you hate most of it anyway, but I think it's still possible to save these films, whether it be minor or major edits, especially if you're going to re-dub Jar Jar and the Neimoidians.

The point I'm trying to make is, if you're trying to re-invent these films, I can only imagine a long and tedious and probably really expensive road ahead of you, that may or may not work. I mean, you're probably looking at (what?) ten years before it's all said and done. It seems like a lot to put on yourself.

But besides all that, I just wanted to say thanks.

Maybe I got something wrong but didn't Ady also announce an 1080p version once he switched from HDTV sources to the BluRay ?

Of course, if he keeps the source effects files, it wouldn't be too difficult to render them again for a 1080p Revisited? Right? Right ?! (Sorry, overly exited).

He started trying to do ESB:R in 1080 but a lack of processing power at the time and lack of high enough quality source material to use as patches/replacements for FX work forced him to scale back to 720.  It's possible he could upsample back to 1080 but again it would depend on the quality of the source material.

-----------

As for my thoughts on PT:R, I think whatever Ady comes up with will ultimately be better than what we have.  I've always felt that part of the reason the OT works is because Lucas was free to make up the story as he went along.  With the PT, he had all these OT "history" points he had to fit in and it came out like he just had them all written down in a list and checked them off as he went along without really taking the time to figure out if and why "this" should happen before "that", how "A" affects "B", and so on.  It's like he was running on autopilot just to get the films done after all these years so that people would stop asking him about them.

I haven't watched a lot of the Prequel edits but I can see where re-arranging events story-wise could have a positive effect on continuity, not just within the PT films but in carrying over that continuity to the OT.

-----------

Regarding making the entire Revisited project sync up with E7 and any future official SW, I'd say don't worry about it.  This started out as a way to fix the SEs into what they should have been.  Leave it at that and let others worry about how the new films work out.  We don't know anything about E7 yet aside from the fact that it's coming.  By the time Ady gets to real work on ROTJ:R, E7 news will start coming out and maybe changes won't be necessary.

My outlook on life - we’re all on the Hindenburg anyway…no point fighting over the window seat.

I just wonder if Ady is gonna work on the new trilogy if it sucks.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

Ady has said that he wouldn't but I wouldn't be surprised if someone did an edit of the ST to bring it closer to the Revisited trilogy if it was distractingly off course or visa versa if the ST surprised everyone by being really good.

Vimeo have deleted it. I got an email from them claiming that i had broken their terms and conditions. I contacted a member of their team to explain that it isn't just a direct clip from a movie, but contained a lot of work done by myself, but got a snarky reply back from them saying "maybe you should start making your own movies instead of playing with other peoples and then the videos wouldn't get deleted". Funny how they haven't touched the three comparison videos i have posted there though.

Wow, never seen that happen at vimeo.  Maybe someone reported it?

If you password protect it, it doesn't seem to be as likely to get caught.  I uploaded my Battle of Endor without a password once and it was deleted in less than 24 hours.  With the password it's been up for over a year now.

What was the e-mail address of the Vimeo person who replied to you?

It sounds to me like it's time for OT to transform into a distributed hate-mail botnet.

From what I've read on botwiki, that's not a good idea.

So even if we put a password to protect it, it could still be reported.  For all we know, someone from Lucasfilm is on this site...well probably not.  But I have some conspiracy theories on who it could be.  ;)

Wow a snarky comment!!  Isn't that rather unprofessional from their part?  I wouldn't have taken that lightly - morons!!!!

You know, I had my suspicions, but now you've confirmed it for me: skyjedi2005 and hoth-nudist are undercover LFL agents!  Get the tar and feathers!

If movies have taught me anything (well, the good ones anyways) it's that it's always who you least suspect. So logically, the spy is Ady.

I went to "like" this and then realized I'm not on Facebook.

Very unprofessional and rude. I believe I've found a file photo of Vimeo's staff...

Very odd, as they have showcased Jambe's Filmumentaries in the past. And to find an account that has two videos, take one down, but leave the other of the exact same length that actually contained the unaltered video is strange.

Of course, I had a 30 second video with no audio of Han shooting Greedo from ANHR (which I pan & scanned) taken down from YouTube, I'm not even sure how that was possible.
