Improving it is a purely subjective point of view to take. I don't think the SEs and the other changes improve the films. Listening to how Lucas has dumbed down some dialogue annoys me and I think it detracts from the value of the films. Other changes I see as just being a bunch of grandstanding by Lucas. In all honesty, these films were so well done originally and have held up so well over the years that they did not need to be changed. And the changes, IMHO, don't help or improve them. But they are physical changes to the movie and its flow (maybe not plot so much). I feel that stuff like all the added scenes in Mos Eisley make the entire scene "clunkier" and not flow as well. It's just useless stuff to look at. The importance of the scene is Luke and Ben going to find a pilot to take them to Alderaan, not show us a power droid bonking a drone to the ground. That's pointless and unnecessary. But, as I've said before, that's my opinion. I can see yours. You feel these new scenes do help the movie. I disagree. But we are entitled to our opinions, right?
