I seem to recall that Warb wears glasses.
I hope this doesn't mean he has some sort of defect in his eyesight because he really shouldn't be allowed near the altar when he goes to church Leviticus 21:20.

Well today I got proof that God exists. Some of you will remember that 2 years ago I was asked to sing a solo for Good Friday(I had been in the church choir). I sang "Old Rugged Cross'. People seem to like it even though I had made many mistakes. This year, I was asked again to sing "Old Rugged Cross" again for Good Friday. I said I'd do it. I'd been practicing it and been doing ok with it. I had been praying for help for the solo every since I found out I was going to be doing it. But last night(the night before I was scheduled to sing) I was practicing and couldn't seem to get it right. I kept messing up the words. I prayed again last night. I though for sure I was going to screw up get something wrong while performing it. I practiced with the piano player earlier today and I felt like I was not singing so well. I prayed again. When it came time to sing it for real, I nailed. I sang all the words correctly. My voice felt good and it sounded right throughout. At the end people clapped and many were amazed and told me so. I honest feel that God helped me through that. But how else do you explain how some no talent loser like me without any sort of formal training(except what I got as a kid in the church and school choir, which wasn't all that much except being told to sing from the diaphragm) was able to sing so well today? I am not saying sounded anywhere near like a professional, but no way could I have sounded as well as I had without some sort of miracle taking place. Laugh if you want.
Others may scoff, but I'm proud of you, Warb, and I have no doubt God was helping you :)
I officially submit that it's possible God helped you.
Improbable, but possible.

You were under pressure Warb. Then the moment came and your mind focused.
I'm in amatheur theatre and I've seen actors who won't remember their lines, and just be a nervous wreck during reharsals, and then they get on stage and they give their 100%, and it all goes well.
You've probably seen that, when you were at school. There's a test coming up, and you're studying with a classmate. He or she is nervous and keeps repeating "I know nothing. I am scared shitless." Then they go there and get an A.
It's our brains, they work like that when we're scared, we think we can't do something because we're afraid we'll mess up, but then the adrenaline rush comes and we concentrate and BOOM! Now you're reading this in John Madden's voice.
You just want to believe it's a miracle because it's closely related to something religious (choir singing) and I won't take that away from you, but... proof of God? As that song went, that don't impress me much.

I originally wrote that too, then changed my mind.*
^^See, is this actually a productive discussion, or just simply trying to deflate someone's belief because you disagree?

Because you're not a "no talent loser". You're obviously talented, and you shouldn't be so hard on yourself. If you didn't have talent, then they never would have asked you to sing the solo in the first place, which they've now done more than once.
I'm not trying to convince you God didn't help you through it. Maybe he did. And I am not laughing at you for believing it was a miracle. That is really cool you nailed it. Good job, man.

I didn't expect everyone to accept it as proof. But it was to me. You see usually I do worse when it comes time to do something for real than I do in preparing for it. This time the reverse happened. I don't know how else to explain it other than a miracle.

where did the talent come from in the first place? I've had no formal training.

Thanks Ender.
Not all talent comes from formal training, Warb.
Exactly what Fink said. I can't sing. At all. Well... I say I can't sing, technically I can sing, but nobody wants to hear me sing because it isn't pleasant. No amount of formal training or voice lessons would fix that. I might have tons of room for improvement, and might even be able to reach a level that would be slightly bearable to human ears, but I will never be talented at singing.

Warb made a bold claim, so I offered my reasoning to explain what happened. I'm not trying to deflate anything. And if you read past the skepticism, I'm actually complimenting Warbler. If it'd been a miracle, then Warbler would have no merit, now would he? Instead he did it all on his own, and we're all happy for him. Warb, you gotta have more confidence!

Exactly.
I have no formal training except for the same kind of advice you received, i.e. being told to sing from the diaphragm, and I can do this:
True story.
I was going through a particularly rough patch as a teenager and while walking home I said in my mind, "God if you exist in any form let me see (the actor) Jack Thompson's bottom on telly when I get home". I kind of got a bit of a crush on him after seeing Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence.
This to me seemed a very odd and random thing to ask and as it was very late at night I expected nothing of any interest at all to be on telly.
I got home, made myself a cuppa, remembered my 'prayer' and got a weird feeling of electricity as I noticed an Australian film on ITV, an Australian film starring Jack Thompson, an Australian film starring Jack Thompson doing this.
I had no idea the film existed or that it would be on television that night or what it contained.
So while it doesn't act as conclusive proof of the existence of the God of the Bible, it does point to a possibility of a higher being that moves in very, very strange ways.

that's better than I could ever manage.
Anyone can do better than that, it just takes practice and method. And most of all, you gotta believe in it.
Don't take our word for it, listen to a 2D rapping dog.
Man, I wish I was two dimensional.

Poochie or get out.
What's that name again? I forgot.

I disagree. That sound professional. No way I could sound professional.
You'll never go anywhere with that attitude.
And for the record that was in no way professional, it was done on Audacity with a crappy headset mic.
Happy Easter! Warb, if you're the only one who reads this and cares, I hope you enjoy a wonderful holiday in remembrance of the resurrection of our Lord and Savior :)
