Who Framed Roger Rabbit? - uncensored HDTV airing(s) (Released) — Page 4

Wow, that's pretty damn cool, Moth3r. I would be willing to watch it like that, if only just to satisfy my crippling OCD about the real differences in the "censored" versions and making a somewhat definitive documentation of the changes.

How sensitive is your method? Will it assuredly detect any noticeable difference? Does it give many false positives? I'm really intrigued by this.

Very nice script, Moth3r.  I'm working on decensoring the Baby Herman "goosing" near the beginning, the Betty Boop nip-slip, and the Jessica Rabbit panty flash.  Those are the only changes I've found so far.  If anyone finds any other differences between the version, I'll be happy to add them to the list.

Look for a one-frame phone number on the Toontown bathroom wall. It's supposedly under the "For a good time, call Allison Wonderland" graffiti. This is one that's been rumored, but nobody has ever come forth with visual proof of.

I wouldn't be surprised if the rumor turns out to B.S., but I always assumed that about Betty Boop's nipples and I was proven wrong there. (And as I said before, Disney did cut out Tim Allen's phone sex number joke from The Santa Clause after the original VHS and laserdisc, because "1-800-SPANK-ME" turned out to be a real number for a real phone sex hotline.)

Ok. Just rewind a little please. Moth3r just said that when two images from different sources from the same thing (a film here), the image become gray when (almost) nothing has bee changed. So, the "censorings" here, since they're not big (a few frames) can be directly & easily corrected with photoshop. Although, let's see first if there isn't any other "easter eggs" in both versions of the film.

I already checked for the phone number in the French version and saw no sign of it.  That one was always dubious at best, though.

The running commentary actually mentioned the Betty Boop nipple flash and pointed out that it was a reference to the fact that it was taken from the original BB shorts where the animators regularly hid naughty single-frame gags like that.

As far as the altered frames, I'm using the blu-ray and French versions and reconstructing the single frames in Photoshop to replace the altered frames.

I'm about halfway through the baby herman goosing segment and I have the Betty Boop frame done.

can you share a sample clip?

All I have are the decompressed video and the single frames at the moment.  I finished the work on the Baby Herman scene, so now I just need to work on the infamous Jessica Rabbit scene, which will take a few days since it was the most extensive edit of the three.

You said you wanted to check out more possible edits, IMDB forums have something that has not been discussed here yet, and I don't know if it is true or not, but you would be the man to ask....

Well I'm sure that if we can get a clear image of the "Rigid Tools" poster, some of us can recreate it & re-insert it in the HD version. All it takes now is to find a good image of it. By the way, it's been discussed on another forum titled "Do theese films need preservation ?".

That scope print is cropped, the version on the Bluray looks excellent, and in the OAR.

Yes, but doesn't the Blu-ray transfer still blur the "Rigid Tools" pinup in the sawmill, like the DVD version did? My point was that an unblurred image could be isolated from the print, and it would mesh better with the HD than a blowup from the laserdisc.

Perhaps, but cost-efficiency wise, buying a full 16 mm print, just for a few frames, is not very sound.

And here is roughly the same frame from the bluray.

The funny thing is, that although it is blurred, you can clearly see Jessica's features and hair.

Just for fun.  :)

TBH I was wondering wth the IMDB forum guys were talking about, so thanks for the pictures. So sad that Disney is so anal. It's a funny advert.

It's also a parody of real pinup ads for tool company Ridgid from back in the day. And yes, they were just as unsubtle:

The Rigid Tools poster wouldn't be too hard to reinsert into the original since it's only a few frames in the animation and it's part of the background painting rather than some sort of cell or animation element.  Is the image above the best that's out there, or are there any higher resolution frame captures?

I'm about halfway done restoring the altered frames from the Jessica Rabbit panty shot scene.  The latest edit to the scene actually removes the panties from her butt and makes it look even more like she's not wearing panties than the original did.  Seriously, Disney?

Love to see the screenshot comparison there.

The screen shot I posted above is what I found after a quick Google search.  I had no idea what people were talking about and figured others might not so I posted that image.

There may be better captures out there but that was the first one that I found.

Wow, you revealed something interesting. The new HD version basically blocks out the poster entirely (with only vestiges of the detail left), and the old DVD version just fuzzed it out.

Perhaps the uncensored portion from that one frame could be mixed with the LD version, or the luma from the LD could be combined with the chroma from the DVD?

Ok, can somebody here, who does have the LD with the uncensored short, post a very good quality screen caps. of the frames containing the poster ? At leas it will be much better that the screen caps. posted earlyer and found with google.

It's part of the background painting, so it shouldn't change size and shape much from one frame to another. If I had enough different screenshots of different frames featuring the poster, the image could probably be reconstructed to some degree.
