Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released) — Page 343

On fonts, I always quite liked the Arial Narrow one which is on the 'Despecialized Edition' pic in the first post.

I was thinking about PAL conforming, but I think that I need a way of capturing as direct as possible. I attempted to scale down 2.1 to a PAL DVD5 for a friend, and the colors lookes almost GOUT-like, and not in a good way.

All jokes aside, I do have a VCR and it would be fun to transfer to VHS and see what it looks like on the old format. Although I'm not sure whether letterbox or fullscan would be better.

Believe it or not, i am actually making this right now!

I converted the movie to PAL 25fps with a 4% speed up. French audio/French crawl. But it's still quite interesting. I've created a DVD and i'm capturing it on a VHS. I will upload a sample here as soon as possible ;)

Edit: I'm using the V2.0 and i'm doing it in letterbox.

LOL! that's awesome!

Analogue Lives!

Wow you've actually made me think of doing it too!

VHS forever!

I want a Betamax!

Just for fun, here's a v2.5 version of the Despecialized Edition logo sequence for the BD extras:

That was excellent I reckon you should do a few different ones so every time you go back to the main menu and change , say the audio, you get a different version.

Burning it to DVD then transferring it, that's what I was missing! Now I really want to finish my full-screen VHS "preservation" of Revisited!

Bravo! It's fun.

Question: "The poster art" if you will as seen here: Is there any chance of getting a PSD of those? Or knowing where the sources came from? I've been thinking of adapting that artwork (with your permission of course) and mocking up a physical box to house the BD cases and really show them off. I would obviously share them with everyone here...

It would be funny if you could convince someone that your tape was dubbed straight from a pre-SE official widescreen VHS release.  (And to further the joke, starting at the beginning of the credits see if you can explain and get them to believe the true source of the video before the custom credits at the very end come up.)

And be kind, rewind.

I thought about it indeed ;) There are no custom credits on this VHS, i've ended up the recording after the official credits and all you can see after this is black. I wanted to do it the most official as possible ^^

I also wrote "CBS FOX 1982" on the sticker that goes on the top of the tape. It looks quite realistic to me.

It was from SW lunchbox the someone turned into a cover. Here are all the file I could find on my disc; the original luchbox scans and the PSDs for my title pics :-)

Lol this reminds me of what I used to do when I first discovered fan edits.  I put scotch tape over the guards on my official star wars vhs tapes and taped over the official versions of TPM, AOTC, and ROTS with fanedits.  Actually I did the same for ROTJ too.  And for Star Wars, I taped over the original with Revisited.  (I have 3 vhs copies of star wars don't worry, I didn't do it to all 3 of them lol).

Wait, you actually found official VHS tapes for AOTC and ROTS?

note:  i'm not sure if it's necessary for success, but i first created CERTIFICATE and CERTIFICATE/BACKUP directories (empty) in the "Star Wars DE_2.1 AVCHD" directory.  and then i did touch * in that directory to make sure BDMV and CERTIFICATE had the same date.  then i follow the procedure at the above link.

i have a DL disc that plays on PS3 now!

As a solution for OSX users, I really didn't expect to open that link and find a command line solution.  LOL.  It is like the whole Mac vs Linux argument flipped on its head...

Not really. Mac OS X is more of a real UNIX than Linux is.

Hell, it even obtained UNIX 03 Certification (full compliance) from the Austin Group with Mac OS X 10.5 "Leopard".

A picture is worth a thousand words. Post 102 is worth more.

I’m late to the party, but I think this is the best song. Enjoy!

Alright, thanks for the picture! I've made something who looks like this more or less.

For the cover, i'm using THIS ONE

(but translated in French) if you know a better one, let me know ;)

SORRY FOR THE OFF-TOPIC GUYS.

I always smile a bit when Mac users find this sort of thing out.. "what's the root account??" hahaha

analog! wait, I'm analog! This VHS stuff is entertaining.

On another note, I dig the title clip. Spiffy 3d movements.

Watched / skimmed the whole thing last night with soundtack audio channel. For some reason, my HTPC defaults to this track, while other players don't. No big deal, I just switch to the 'real' 1st one usually. Was kind of interesting to watch it this way, though I do admit doing 30-sec skips through some of it.

One question on the scene towards the end where they're getting ready to launch fighters (1:40:46). Is there "gate weave" there due to GOUT use for that brief segment, or was that added?

I meant in the sense that in comparisons everyone always blasts Linux on the assumption you have to know how to use command line to use it, and that Mac is just easy and pretty, etc.  Yet you can accomplish this task graphically, easily in Linux and the provided solution for Mac is purely command line.  I find it quite comical and ironic.

But yes I do respect the Unix underpinnings of OS X, and also think it is fair to point out that Linux isn't trying to BE Unix, they're just very similar.

The gate weave was added for two reasons

A) it was originally there.

B) it helps hide the weave difference between different elements. (Which could actually be a reason why there was more gate weave on matte paintings even in the original - it may have been intentionally added)

Cool - I thought there was some on that scene (originally), just wasn't sure. It only really got my attention with the isolated score. The other areas with a little bit are tastefully done, this one seemed like it might've had a tiny bit more, but it's not distracting.

Can't wait to make some blu ray discs :)

I still don't understand the significance with the yellow letters on the BD title screen knocking that creature off the screen is. It almost comes off like a comedy movie.
