The theater where I saw Jedi in 1983 apparently might still have a projector! They've been a music venue for decades, but I spotted The Rocky Horror Picture Show in the middle of their concert schedule.

Now I know where the first OT.com convention might be held some day. ;)

In Empire Leia was not Lukes sister (my opinion is based on GL not making brother and sister kiss romantically) . The story was changed during the writing of ROTJ. (GL choosing to forget about what he had previously written).

On Dagobah, when Luke left to rescue Han and Leia, Obi Wan said "That boy is our last hope." Yoda says "No, there is another."

Obi Wan was at Luke and Leias birth, so now we have a continuity error or it was not Leia Yoda was talking about on Dagobah.

If it was not Leia, who was Yoda referring to?

This could be the person who is the hero of the next trilogy or two.

I'm not sure if Lucas wasn't rolling the idea of having Leia, Luke's sister in the back of his mind even back then.

If you watch ESB there are a lot of clues dropped in there to suggest it might be her.

As for the smooching Lucas is a bit unconventional when it comes to that sort of thing.

Marion and Indy's backstory, little Anakin and teen Padme...

The histories of myth and melodrama is full of lost siblings in love trapezoids which are collapsed by the revelation of the truth.

It happens in real life too.

I don't read Yoda's line as referring to Leia anyway.

To my ears he is clearly talking about Anakin.

The idea of them being siblings, if the thought had crossed Lucas' mind by then, could possibly explain why a different take of their kissy kissy was used rather than the hot tonsil hockey version I saw in one of the old trailers. Maybe they left it in but toned it down. Of course that assumes Lucas was thinking that far ahead.

I don't know why so many fans are having problem with Luke and Leia being siblings.

And the kiss in ESB really isn't any kind of romantic kiss. It is basically just an angry reaction from Leia to shut up Han.

1. It wasn't planned. It was a band-aid after Lucas decided he was going to quit after ROTJ.

2. Luke has had a thing for Leia since SW77. Even going so far as to play on her sympathies to get more smooches on at least two occasions. =P

I'm guessing the sex scene has something to do with it.

Luke and Leia were never brother and sister. The other that Yoda refers to IS Luke's twin sister but you were never going to find out who she was until the next trilogy. After ROTJ Luke was going to search for his lost sister. When George was writing the climax of the duel between Vader and Luke he couldn't figure out what vader could say to Luke that would make him go nuts. So he decided that it should be Vader threatening to turn his sister. But, as the sister hadn't been introduced, he turned Leia into the sister. So much for the BS that he had everything planned out since he first started writing Star Wars.

I know that's the official Lucas story (and we know how reliable those are) but I do suspect he was giving it some thought even back then.

It's hard not to read ESB as being the film where the Leia as sister idea actually worked.

Perhaps it's because in ROTJ Mark is the only one of the big three still bothering so when ESB is re-watched with the sister reveal in mind Carrie's superior performance in ESB is more convincing.

The way Leia is sizing up Lando and then connects instantly with Luke's telepathic broadcasts does help sell the latent Jedi Leia idea. Maybe Lucas had Leia as a backdoor other should ESB be not as big a hit as anticipated or as it finally turned out he lost interest.

I've always found it easier to swallow that Leia is Vader's child than Luke, she does leave a trail of very sore throats behind her.

Except that, sibling-angle aside, who else in the Falcon was Luke supposed to contact telepathically? Lando? He'd never met him. Chewie? Maybe, but they never really seemed all that close--certainly not as close as Luke and Leia. One of the droids? Well that wouldn't really work very well, since the Force is generated by living beings; force-chatting with a droid would have seemed remarkably out of place.

So I'm not sure this argument works. Leia was really the only logical choice for Luke to contact, sibling or no sibling.

In the series the only people who get these sort of signals are Jedi anyway.

Ben picks up on Alderaan, Vader picks up on Ben, Vader picks up on Luke, Luke picks up on Ben, Vader picks up on someone in the Falcon who he assumes is Luke.

So that implies she has latent Force powers regardless of her sibling relationship with Luke.

1. So what if it wasn't planned... it is still okay.

2. Luke had nothing. There is just no indication that Luke was after her in SW. If anything, one could say she was hitting on him and his reactions were rather cold and clumsy.

I have never found Leia hot. I find her rather average looking. The only thing that saves her is the fact that she is pretty much the only woman in original trilogy (with exception of Mon Mothma who would probably look hotter if she was younger).

We obviously have very different taste in women...

Wow!

A picture is worth a thousand words. Post 102 is worth more.

Admittedly George makes his female leads dress up in the most awful outfits.

Either weirdly theatrical, drably gender free or wowboobs.

Boy, everybody forgets the Ion Cannon fire control lady in ESB. ;)

Mon Mothma looks pretty good in Episode III.

Uh...

She angrily turns, and as she starts out of the cockpit, passes Luke coming in.

LEIA: Your friend is quite a mercenary. I wonder if he really cares about anything...or anyone.

LUKE: I care!

Luke, shaking his head, sits in the copilot seat. He and Han stare out at the vast blackness of space.

LUKE: So...what do you think of her, Han?

HAN: I'm trying not to, kid!

LUKE: (under his breath) Good...

HAN: Still, she's got a lot of spirit. I don't know, what do you think? Do you think a princess and a guy like me...

LUKE: No!

Luke says it with finality and looks away. Han smiles at young Luke's jealousy.

Yeah, Luke pretty clearly had a thing for her.

Dude, that's like the fourth time you've posted that link.

EDIT: Fifth. Actually, it looks like every single post you've made has been a link to that particular video. What gives?
