*sigh* I'm not going to bother posting a list of horror films I've rated 7+. I'll simply make this single point: just because I don't give every horror film I watch - or the overall cruddy Friday the 13th films in particular - the highest score doesn't mean I don't like the genre; it just means I find the movies in question bad, average*, or just above average.

*There's nothing wrong with average. I like many average movies, I rewatch many average movies, and there are many average movies I would love to own on DVD.

Sure, that's fair, but if you only like the ones that are really well crafted like The Exorcist or The Thing or whathaveyou, why bother with schlocky b-movies like Wishmaster and F13part4? It just seems odd that you keep watching these bad horror movies that you don't enjoy. I mean, I like movies like F13 part 4, but if I wasn't into that sort of movie I would never bother with it.

I hate how DuracellEnergizer is watching movies that he doesn't like. :P

I'm currently rewatching several movies that I haven't seen in years - mostly ones I remember enjoying - to guage whether or not I still find them enjoyable, if I think they've stood the test of time, or if I think they've actually improved. Some - like pretty much all the Friday the 13th films past Part I - haven't, while others, like the Nightmare on Elm Street films with Heather Langenkamp - have.

And, again, I have to reiterate that just because I rate a movie a 5 or 6 doesn't mean I don't like them or enjoy them; it's just that they didn't click enough for me to give them a higher mark.

...

Oh, and JFTR, I actually liked Wishmaster. The cheap, made-for-TV vibe is the only thing that kept me from giving it an even 7/10.

Just change it to a banana.

Aw man, I think we just witnessed the death of a meme.

And Duracell, seriously! Stop watching horror movies, you clearly don't like them! You have no right to watch whatever you want to.

Finally watched The Room. Lived up to the "so bad it's entertaining" billing. Just awful but hilarious. I think I'd find it just as funny if the film's reputation didn't precede it. The acting and dialogue are so incredibly horrible.

Oops. I blame the forum's sometimes broken posting.

I've already seen Troll 2, as well as the "Best Worst Movie" documentary.

It's very weird that you give any Home Alone film a higher rating than Rocky Horror.

But I love Carry On films.

There's only some much of Tim Curry making an embarrassing ass of himself I can take before I can takes no more.

The plotless plot didn't help any, either.

Some Youtube videos might look like Rocky Horror but A) they are really good ones and B) the film is a tad older than Youtube.

It's as important a cultural artifact as Star Wars.

Like Star Wars it's a compendium of influences which span late 20th century culture and beyond.

If you lived through Ziggy, Bolan and Jobriath, if you lived through the fifties revival wave that hit in the early to mid seventies, if you picked up on what film makers like John Waters and Ken Russell around the same time you'd possibly get it more.

But even if you never did Home Alone is just a rather mediocre slapstick comedy about a rich kid.

A rich kid that grows up to become James Bond.

Oops... I mean *spoilers*.

Wow, what a fantastic movie.  Even if you had never seen Firefly, I think you could enjoy it very easily.  And having loved every minute of Firefly, I thought Serenity was even better.

I had read in a review that a major character died.  So when Book was killed, I wasn't that surprised.  But then Wash was killed, and I didn't see that coming at all.  In fact, there was a point near the end when nearly everyone had been seriously wounded, and I thought Whedon was going to kill them all off.  I assume there was a possibility that there would be another movie or that the show might get picked up again, so he couldn't do that.  But if they all would have been killed (after Mal sent the signal out, of course), that would have been a perfect ending.

Having said that, River's transformation was kick-ass.  And it was nice to see Simon and Kaylee get together finally.

For a last stand, the movie was pretty much everything I had hoped it would be.  10/10.

I saw it in a cinema before I saw the show and while it was a different experience to watching it after the show it was differently equal experience.

If only they were the guys in Alien 4 instead of the guys in Alien 4.

Major spoilers next post.

Watched some youtube clips and reviews of The Room - I just dunno if i can handle watching the whole thing..

You can handle it! It is totally worth watching. Every time I try to get someone to watch it with me, it is a fight to get them to sit down and commit to it, but once it gets going they always have a great time, and go on to try to talk their friends into watching it.

Seriously though. I haven't watched it either. I know I could handle watching the whole thing. I just got all this other stuff I'd rather watch instead.

I've watched Manos uncut more than once. I hope for the chance to see The Room with audience one of these days.

Where were you in '77?

We need a mash-up of The Room and the Ridiculousness Trilogy.

I could see Anakin saying, "Everybody betrayed me! I'm fed up with this world," or pretty much every line by Johnny.
