You'd think they'd consider more than just the lowest common denominator of PC user skills, but Microsoft doesn't. You can turn that off manually by adjusting your automatic update settings to have it just notify you rather than automatically downloading or installing. That or stay on OSX or switch to Linux (as I use 90+% of the time). Any way you go, it is hard to see why Windows has the dominance it does, and Windows 8 only goes to prove that it shouldn't realistically be so ubiquitous.
