ok, maybe it looks better on paper (in small size) than on film ...
I almost suggested the "AVP" font ;-)
Alien league is a half assed Attempt to create the 'aliens' font. It also begins to look horrible the moment it's over size 72.

I'm looking through concept posters for font ideas. The one in the recent link was a blocky one for an homage to alien/wayyy easier to cut into pieces.
ill upload the new ending soon, I'm not too satisfied, and I feel like the movie basically stops, rather then has an ending. As much as I loved working on this project, I'm at the point where I just want to be done with it.
so I'll let brimforge and Johnny rango (and others? YOU?) weigh in, I'm sure it'll be polarizing. If there's no fans, I'll fix up the old one.
I guess it comes down to the note that you want to leave the film with,
the theatrical leaves you with a hint at a sequel, and a final glimpse of a xeno.
The old final leaves you with the notion that shaw was right.
this new ending leaves on a downer note, with the transmission.
And it's the transmission that's really the glue tying this ending to the beginning of alien.
I would like to take a moment to thank this community.
You guys were a lot more responsive than I ever expected you guys to be, And something that I started doing for myself, Eventually turned out to be for everyone.
cant wait for this!!
is the battle beetween shaw and the engineer in this?
If you had asked me a week ago, yes, now, maybe not.
do an alternative version probably lot of people , including myself , rates this scene as the most must watch!
even ridley scott said that it was a good shooting , but the idea of a the big engineer fighting with a woman failed as a plausible real fact , and i do agree with him , but just for curiosity i want to watch
I sent you a private message with my original rough draft, That scene does look good and is a nice homage to alien, The more I watch it though the less I like it.
Though as nice as it may be, it is really strange, the engineer ripped David apart, did away with the doctor and "red shirt" guy - only to have problems with Shaw?
He could also with ease crush her, not play games, and somewhat the logic, why he hunts her, kind of escapes me (she wasn't hostile, the others were, and at that even towards her)
so yes, I would leave that "end battle" out - question is should Shaw live or Vickers, what about David?
And cool to close with the "distress call" ;-)
I can't make vickers live.... Doesn't mean I have to make anyone live~
ok, I meant to leave it open who got crushed, killed so on ;-)
well, even David could be the last one, and then there is the signal (which was meant to be a warning) things repeating itself ...

how about a dark ending where they never deploy the lifeboat, the engeneer never leaves the ship (as we find out, in alien, was facehugged), David dies with old man wayland, we are left with this (now moved) part of the transmission,
And Shaw finally gets to meet her maker.
That was ... awesome :-)
At first I though, crap video got stuck, then transmission end ...

Too bad this edit will take some time, wish I could watch with yours as double feature ;-)
i really enjoyed the scene but ridley made a mistake when he permited the engineer grab shaw after she's down, maybe you can cut it and make a straight sequence she's scaping
As much as I love the idea, the clip ends kind of abruptly. And the other issue is that in ALIENS it is strongly implied that the derelict is not FROM LV-426.
some clever tweaking might be able to smooth that out..
perhaps after Shaw and Vickers get crushed [sic], we see a brief montage of shots of the derelict lifted from ALIEN and ALIENS and then end on the failed survey mission that doomed the colony in ALIENS, ie: a shot of Newt screaming..?
I don't think a montage is the way to end it on, but I do hear what you mean.
as is, it feels like it needs something more to connect it to alien; but all of the pieces that we really need are there: the derelict, and the transmission.
without its 4th act, it (this edit) ends right as it starts picking up. If I said 15 minutes were cut out, you'd all believe me.
I tried finding some use for shaws dream, that I cut out, somewhere before she died; but no sections worked out for me.
maybe you could add her dream into the "short" black screen, as the engineer ship dropped on her - waking her with the computer telling Shaw, about 2 minutes oxygen remaining ... ?
I somewhat tried that, theres just the aspect of the dream looking intentionally computer-y....
I'll give it another shot.
when the "lights went out" for her, I nearly thought that she had gone, adding the "oxygen-countdown" offscreen, fading into an "afterlife" dream whatsoever, would be just ambivalent, to what the rest of Prometheus was about ;-)
It's a shame about the comuter-esque filtering [maybe something could be done about that..] but a dream she has about death and what happens after might be a fitting way to end the character - after apparently being crushed by the Alien vessel...Maybe she wakes up later in a post credit sequence. That leaves the door open for the sequel.
Haven't really thought it through but I've been considering the possibility of Janek ejecting the lifeboat with Shaw still inside - which may or may not work. If the end part of the story is going under the knife anyway then there's no reason to not consider radical ideas, I guess.
re: the titles, I like the idea of changing the name, i dislike the idea of copying the style of the Alien main title. I do kind of like the broken / distorted transmission aesthetic and I was inspired to do a little tinkering after browsing this particular website - http://rob-sheridan.com/main.php#/IMAGES/ANALOG%20GLITCH/1/

These are merely ideas, mucking about in photoshop. Not entirely sure what would work best for the film but it's better to have it's own identity.
The other main idea I've been playing with is doing the whole film in black and white - but i dunno if you'd be interested in going that route.
Though I like the idea to give the movie a unique character, it would fit to link the design with Alien ...
hm, any info what "LV-426" stands for? is it just a numbering of planet/moon/system or does it have a deeper meaning?
I ask, because it depends if one translates "426" or "4.2.6" into roman letters ...
on a sidenote, interesting how designs look a like ;-)
I always took it (and I'm non religious) as Leviticus 4:26
Also I have yet to get to a computer, but I love that font. Is there any way to make an example of that, with a numeral 426?
I would be down with Roman numerals most any day, but having LV as letters throws the rest off for me. And as much as I can handle people stumbling over the name, I can't help but real it phonetically as: Ell-Vee-AI-VEE-AI-AI-Vee-AI
