Poita, will there be a possibility of a share of your scan, as I was  watching this for myself?

Author

Of course.

I have no intention of hiding it under a rock or anything :)

The auction is nearly over, but it is getting very close to my budget limit.

Does anyone else have the funds or interest if it gets over $600?

I see it sold for over $800 - were you able to get it poita?

Author

That's a huge amount for a print sight unseen and few details. The seller of the Cinevision print last year was able to show screenshots and even took cellphone video of the print as they ran it.

Yeah went way over my budget, poita did you manage to get it?, if not hopefully the buyer is a member.

I went way over what I could afford, but I nabbed it in the end. Hopefully it will be worth it - feeding your kids is over-rated anyway.

Silverwook, I know the seller that print originally came from, so at least I had some idea of its quality and heritage so to speak, but yeah, I went way over budget.

This is awesome! I'm glad to know it's in good hands.

I’m late to the party, but I think this is the best song. Enjoy!

SShhh dont tell the other half.

Poita why not digitise it asap and then throw it back on fleabay, because of the price it went for it should defo get to that price again to get your money back, so long as you do a quick turnaround as it were, strike while the irons hot!

Digitization is still time-consuming. You have to get the exposure right, etc.

Not to throw water on the idea, but I'm babysitting two such prints, plus a third that is the 1977 version.

All are on reels too big to fit on the gear Puggo uses.

Silverwook is it not possible to transfer them to different sized reels? I would presume this would mean cutting them maybe? Forgive me if this a dumb question, the fact you have an original 77 version makes me weak at the knees, have you been able to watch them? have you any screen shots?

Oh, I agree 100%.

I was just trying to point out that it's possible to get the raw capture done crappily and poita has said something to that effect to me outside of the forum in the past.

It will take about 2-3 weeks for the print to get to me in Australia, and then about a month to do a proper capture.

Because I capture in mono, I get 3 images per frame, a Red, Blue and Green image. These then have to be combined to make a single colour image.

I also do 3 captures and average them to remove CCD noise etc. and then an extra capture underexposed and another overexposed in case it is required. That all takes a while.

But yes, I will be selling the print when I have squeezed everything I can out of it.

Good to hear that you got it.

Take your time with it, there will always be people interested in buying the print, so it's more of an investment.

Keep in touch. We are still wondering if it has the real mono mix or a folddown version.

This is so exciting, and deserves its own thread in my opinion!

I really wish someone would do an HD restoration of all the trailers.

I agree. I'll shoot poita an e-mail regarding this.

Great news, poita! :) And I agree with you, take your time and go for quality. All I can say is that after you have the highest quality capture possible, make a full backup of the raw capture files on an external hard drive and keep the backup copy in a safe place, just in case. :)

Oh, and please, no cutting of the film to make it fit on different reel sizes. haha =P

The Star Wars trilogy. There can be only one.

Congrats poita! I look forward to seeing what you do with this.

Are you taking the mick? I meant so it would fit on smaller reels as it was originally, if you read the description it has been spiced together from 4 smaller reels.

Smart ass!

Glad to hear you had some inside info. It would have gone for a lot more had there been pictures.

I don't trust the projector I have to safely play them. It can take a 1200 reel, but it struggles with a 600 reel. I'm aching to watch it and find out if it's the true mono mix or not.

I don't have the gear to downsize the reels.

There are screenshots in the original auction. Alas, the youtube video is no longer there. It was beautiful.
