every title I buy now probably just means 1 more on the shelf that I never actually play.  :(

Even Bioshock??? WHAt???

IGNORED!!!

I'm not sure if you can read this, what with the IGNORing and all...  But I will definitely pick up Infinite, maybe in about 6 months or so, and it will mean that I will never actually play Splinter Cell 5, Shadow of the Colossus, or, heaven forbid, Fallout Vegas.  Every title I buy now means one on the shelf won't get played... but it probably won't be that title, if you follow.

Eh, leave Splinter Cell 5 and Fallout: New Vegas, definitely at least kill a few colossi in Shadow of the Colossus, it is a great game, but if it is between never playing it at all and only playing a few hours of it, I'd say play a few hours of it. It is essentially a puzzle game and the biggest challenge is figuring out how to take down each colossi, if you take down the first few, you've basically experienced the game. That isn't to say it isn't worth playing all the way through, if you have the time and initiative to do so.

I played [CoO and GoS] a little, they felt a lot like the PS2 games, only with really awful graphics in comparison and with a bit more of a claustrophobic feel to them.

Really awful in comparison to the PS2 games?  I had heard that they were at least on par, but I haven't booted them up, so I don't know.

No way. I haven't played three yet, so I can't compare it. But going from playing GoW 2, which I think looks gorgeous, to playing the PSP ports, it was impossible to forget that they were designed for a 480 x 272 PSP screen.

Dead Island was a game I loved all the way to the end, and was disappointed when it was over. I remember thinking it was fantastic, but a little too short. My c-op partner and I played the campaign through 2 and a half times to get to get our levels up.

That's encouraging!  I tend to trust your taste in games, so hopefully we will at least feel gratified that we played through to the end once!

I'm playing the Asian girl who seems to have developed a real glass jaw of late.  I recently started using a long handled axe which has helped keep the undead at bay, but I have resigned myself to constant deaths just being part of the game.

Yeah, that game can be brutal. You really have to watch yourself and work with your partner to keep from dying all the time.

Honestly, I think I am one of that game's biggest advocates, I really enjoyed it through and through, but it seems that the vast majority of the gaming population has always been a lot less willing to over look its flaws than I have been.

Interestingly, a few months after beating it two and a half times and moving on to other games, a friend of mine bought it and wanted me to co-op it with him. I was really excited about the opportunity to play it through again, but found myself really bored. Maybe it was because I was getting really annoyed constantly explaining how the game worked to him, as he was going through the learning curb and I wasn't. Or maybe it was somehow related to bringing up the memories of the previous person I co-op'ed it with, who had since moved on and was now co-op'ing other dudes.

So for those of you who were interested in Aliens: Colonial Marines, but didn't want to shell out the cash for an admittedly crappy game, I offer this link to a Let's Play created by a couple friends and myself.

Clicky!

Basically we play so you don't have to, and we attempt to be somewhat humourous at the same time. Check it out if you're so inclined.

I'm also looking forward to the new Space Hulk, because it's done by an indie studio who cares about the original games and seems to know what they're doing, plus Space Hulk.

Also grabbed the Predators and AvP games on Android, and, though I've only played through part of Predators so far, it's awesome. It's the perfect little mindless game that scratches the itch of wanting to play a game where you're the Predator and you just run around killing everything; it's brutal and visceral and just perfect in its simplicity. I love that kind of thing.

Keep Circulating the Tapes.

Oh for the love of god, please play Shadow of the Colossus. I missed it it on PS2 but when my roommate came home one day a year ago with a PS3 HD remake of it...man, I was hooked. I'm kind of embarrassed it went right over my head when it first came out. If you play it all the way through, yeah it's a bit repetitive. But it's probably one of the best PS2 games I have played, and that's saying something. Get the HD remake if you can, it is much more impressive, and comes bundled with Ico, which isn't as good but is still worth owning.

Yeeeaaaaahhhh!!!

I've said it before, but you should totally check out Spec Ops: The Line. It has a great story based upon the book "Heart of Darkness" and brutally deconstructs modern military shooters. It's great.

Finished The Walking Dead. really good game. Zipperlips..

Looking forward to Sim City on Thursday and then Bioshock just before Easter..There's a lot of new stuff coming out this month but I think I'll pull a xhonzi and ignore a lot of it for a while. Tomb Raider looks good but I might wait for a bit.

been reading a lot of the back and forth Re: gearbox and colonial marines. I'm fascinated with this particular trainwreck.

I've been playing Minecraft all afternoon with my little cousin. Had to teach him almost everything (well he has picked up the game just a couple of days ago) but it was a lot of fun nevertheless. I myself learned how to use the server software.
Anybody wanna play with me? PM me pls. kthxbai.

In single player mode I finally found carrots!!!

I'm just throwing this out there. A year ago, me and my roommate played through LOTR: Return of the King for Xbox. It's basically a hack n slash beat 'em up, like Golden Axe if it were made in 2003. Anyway, this game doesn't get enough credit. I started playing again, and if you like games like TMNT: The Arcade Game, this is one of the best titles you can play that is comparable for recent generation systems. There is also a Two Towers game like this, but it isn't as good. But man, I played through this game twice on my own and once with my friend in co-op, and I even watched all the little bonus videos you can unlock. The game itself got positive but not amazing reviews when it came out, but if you like 3D hack-n-slash/beat-em-up style games with a little bit more depth than their 16/32-bit predecessors this is a fantastic title, with some minor flaws, but nonetheless one of the funnest times I have had with the xbox. The reason I am posting this is because I saw it at a used game store for about $20, so if you do see it for a good price then pick it up if you like that type of gameplay.

I absolutely loved The Two Towers and the Return of the King game. Very fun, and very under rated.

I could be wrong, but I've never heard orchestral high strings played in the soundtrack of a game. You know when the strings section of an orchestra takes over giving the score a beautiful majestic melody.

Stuff like this.

(0.00 to 0.57ish)

But then again I have an ear for strings and brass. I can tell in a game/film's score when it isn't really an orchestra but done on a computer.

The Xbox Lord Of The Rings games are currently my target for cheap as chips gaming (just finished my Bond game quest).

My goal is to get them for as little as possible.

I'm not in a hurry so I'm aiming for under £2 including P&P.

I bought them for the PS2 for around five dollars each from Gamestop at one point. But I've since sold most of my PS2 games and began replacing the ones I really wanted to play again in the future with the Xbox versions so that I can play them on my 360 with wireless controller and all. I need to look and see if those two Lord of the Rings games are compatible with the 360.

EDIT: Wooo! They are!

I read some people having problems with The Two Towers but maybe that was just the PAL versions.

Sounds like the always-on DRM for SimCity is as bad as that for Diablo 3.

That was one of the first NES games I ever played. When my cousins got a playstation, their NES got passed on to one of my aunts -- presumably my other relation did that in the interest of not spoiling his kids, I suppose. I couldn't have been more than five when I found this out and promptly begged and pleaded with them to pull it out. They did, and it was wonderful. Years later, she shipped it to me as a Christmas present - twenty or so games and all. I was one happy fifth grader in 2003 (put the year just to make you guys feel old, by the way.)

I later got some experience with the arcade version, of course. It can't hold a candle to the NES version for me though. Despite the downgrade in graphics, the extra levels help with the variety. Oh, and also, your health drains way too fast in the arcade. It was a coin muncher, all right. At least the Simpsons game felt fair!

I met my wife in 2003. We were sophomores in High School and had Biology class together.

A picture is worth a thousand words. Post 102 is worth more.

I’m late to the party, but I think this is the best song. Enjoy!

It could be worse. We could all be here for the sole purpose of discussing a blockbuster film fundamentally made for the enjoyment of families with their children.

I played it back in the day at various locations, and some unscrupulous owners would set the difficulty levels way too high. Playing with three other people was a total blast though!

Where were you in '77?

I was a bigger fan of the 6-player X-Men machine. I went through it at the local mini golf with my neighbor back in the day. We were shocked and horribly disappointed when the game restarted after we won - I guess that's one of the drawbacks to arcade games, the endings are often unsatisfying. Also, gotta love that engrish.

I just started playing Age of Conan:Unchained, about 5 hours in.

Anyone else play this? Overall, it's a good MMO, but I expected a bit better from the reviews, especially as a lifelong Robert E. Howard fan. It's a good game--and what can you ask for something that is offered completely for free? So far, I am having fun and want to keep playing, but sadly I don't think it will hold my interest for more than a couple weeks. I would rate something like DC Universe Online as much better, for it's larger world, better presentation and superior controls. This has been a good waste of time though, so I'm curious if anyone else played it and what they thought? Again, it's free to play, although at a massive 20 GB it will take you a long time to download it off Steam.
