Superb work as always, Ady. Thank you so much for sharing... Mind you, after your admission about telling lies, I now wonder what other surprises you might have in store for us! :-)
rule # 1 ;)

Sojourn, that mask feathering is there on the original. As i haven't changed the background on that shot there isn't anything i can do about that without replacing the whole background and i didn't really want to remove the original model work in that shot
Makes sense to me! And now that I've watched the comparison video, I see what you mean. Thanks for the info!
The comparison video shows off just how much better the AT-ATs and flyby shots during the battle look -- the work is so subtle that you assume it's been there the whole time, but it looks so good!
I was actually privvy to the AT-STs a while back when Ady accidentally posted a screenshot of them, but I was sworn to secrecy.
Even having seen a screenshot before though, I was unprepared for how beautiful it would look in motion. Ady should take it as the ultimate compliment that I was told off by the gf for repeatedly swearing in sheer awe as I watched it.
F****NG OUTSTANDING!
Hello Everyone,
I debated whether or not to watch this clip. However, I could not help myself.
Amazing work Adywan. I love how the AT-ST's were in there. Especially since there were shots dropped from the original release because they could not finish them in time.
The second thing that stood out was the AT-AT motion. It looks amazing and with the split screen you really notice the difference.
The coloring looks great and I didn't realize how washed out the AT-AT's in the bluray look.
Keep up the good work and I think I can wait the next 12 weeks or so without any more videos. ;)
Can't wait for the finished product.
Matt
Looks awesome Ady.
Thank you so much, Ady! Been following this since 2008. Can't wait !
This is brilliant! Everything looks amazing in motion. The small details really add up - functioning displays, AT-STs, more blaster bolts. And the colors are outstanding!
My favorite shot by far is the two speeders climbing after an attack pass, with an AT-ST acting as air defense and shooting at them. Just looks... natural. And I too noticed that these are the "chicken" AT-STs with longer legs and slightly different cupola. Bravo!
Now, I have to say it and everyone will hate me, but...
The binoculars scene looked somewhat off. Maybe it's that the new CGI AT-ATs do not have the characteristic wobble/swaying of the actuals models, or it looks too pristine? I can't exactly put my finger on it but it somewhat breaks the feel of the scene.
Which is strange, as the CGI is otherwise seamlessly integrated and I'm having hard time distinguishing it from the physical models.
Maybe consider adding more grain to the black area (the binoculars), and slight camera/hand shake?

Well I paid £26 earlier this morning so I guess that brings it down to £250 now? ;)
You shouldn't have posted specific details! Now we know that FVDnz = Fabian Lelo!!!
Meh no harm in it whatsoever. :p

One shot that still sticks out for me is this one:
which appears largely unchanged in the sequence as it stands.
If you could possibly add a hint of the interior (you wouldn't see much) it would create a greater impression of scale.
Something like :
That binocular shot was actually my favourite part of the clip. It looks so awesomely menacing.

Agreed. It looks far better than the original to me, especially with the pilots actually visible through the window.
I loved it but it did feel like it was in a different resolution to the rest of the sequence so I wouldn't mind the image softened a bit.
A faux-autofocus effect might be fun too.
I made my favorite shot the banner on the site:
Of course, it's been my favorite shot for a few years now. I didn't realize so many others knew! We're all such good secret keepers!
LOOK! It leaves little footprints in the snow!

I love that shot too double O five! But shouldn't there be a longer trail of footprints?
In fact depending on where it is in the formation... there could be a whole lot of footprints.... heading in the same direction of course....

Adywan, you sly bastard. THANK YOU!
I'm looking forward to ESB-R now more than ever.
EDIT: Crap, has it really been 5 years?
You know of the rebellion against the Empire?

Reposted so I can see the whole thing.
Well once again Ady you and your team never cease to amaze!! The subtle additions of those AT-ST's certainly are amazing!!! However one thing I do wish to query - Dac's helmet appears to have a blue Rebel insignia. Is that intentional or is that a rank thing?

This one has bugged me also (have had the workprint for some time now.....not nearly as long as 005 or others on the project, but I got a bit of an idea how annoying it is to have to keep such an awesome secret from the very people who would enjoy it as much as I do).....any footprints should go right to the edge of the frame.
Localized blizzard.
Dak's helmet has always been blue.
His helmet is recycled from the vanishing "blue-squadron" in ANH.
Basically in the first film Luke was originally meant to be Blue 5 but the blue insignia and markings on the models interfered with FX shots so the squadron became red but the shots with blue insignia had already been filmed.
Gold Squadron was the original Red Squadron which may explain this toy:
Ady changed the Blue markings to red in ANH:R but there is still a continuity issue because in the battle only Luke has that insignia in red and all the helmets are distressed and weathered but as you can see these look rather shiny.
It's been a long time, so I present you with this:

Oh it's been too long since a good 005 comparison.
Thanks, man.
Great additions, and great coloring. It just looks great. My only criticism would be the first shot through the electrobinoculars that looks too CG. But is a minor complaint.
Wow, the new stuff added to the battle makes the Empire appear more scary and threatening than ever before!
I can't imagine what the whole final sequence will be like, turned up really loud and played on a huge screen.
Great work Ady! I cannot wait to see the entire film. This film is 6 years in the making and I never thought I would say this, but it looks as though it will be worth the wait.
BTW when you said 100% finished, is that this clip or the entire film?
