Check out this trailer for Darth Vader and the Ghost Prison!

This is why I love Dark Horse. What a cool way to advertise your latest graphic novel. I really hope they keep the license. I don't want to imagine what Marvel would do if they got their hands on it again.

Harry icon for the win!

Did they use an existing game engine to make that ad? I like the last shot of Vader in the empty Jedi council chamber.

Portraying Sy Snootles with a puppet was a stupid idea. Lucas should have cast Stevie Nicks to play the role.

That is one of the most depressing pictures I've ever seen. No joke.

It should say:

George Orwell

  1903-1950

       Lair.

Fixed.

It should say, "Photoshop was here lol".

Is that an ILM model, and if so, has that decal always been there?

So Pablo Hidalgo just posted a new blog on the official site:

Star Wars Mysteries: The Rebel Commando That Wasn’t

Shows a fun bit of research. I just wish they'd turn their attention to the whole Gribbet=Rybet nonsense (he's clearly a Chubbit!). But what I found to be the most interesting bit in the entry was this:

Luckily I had the opportunity to go back to the original unedited documentary footage  and skimmed through the Jabba’s palace scenes, hoping to see evidence of this guy on set.

Doesn't that just turn you green with envy?

That looks like a Swedish tank driver's helmet to me.

Well in the original 1979 Battlestar Galactica pilot episode, one of the ships in the "rag-tag fugitive fleet" had  a huge logo on the side that read "Colonial Movers - We Move Anywhere".

It still doesn't explain how Han's hair keeps changing length mid-journey.

The Falcon takes off from Hoth, Han has a haircut by the time they bump into Star Destroyers.

Running from them takes so long it grows back by the time they reach the asteroid field.

But hummy, even if that were canon, he says "three weeks in hyperspace"

when we all know the Falcon wasn't.

yeah, i know. I wasn't being entirely serious, though I guess that didn't come across in text.

But still, it at least gives us an idea of what the film makers themselves had in mind. And it works for me. "About a month" is the time frame I always envisioned for those events anyway.

I never liked this orbital shot of Yavin 4:

I don't know, it is just somehow visually poor and unimpressive and it doesn't provide me with the adequate feel. Even the stars are not visible (as they should be in my opinion). I think it would improve dramatically if they added a thin layer of atmosphere at the edge of the planet and increase the intensity of stars in the background.

For comparison, here are other orbital shots from OT that are very impressive and provide a magical feel:

Some ebay horrors...

Not quite a creepy puppet Yoda head, but there's something disquieting about it...

It looks a lot like they somehow enlarged a pez dispenser head sculpt!

And some Gungan nightmare fuel for you tonight. ;)

I'm reading the ROTJ novel, and I have to say that I find the whole slave Leia bit pretty disturbing.  I mean, the film and book really don't say much about it, and I know it's a kids movie, and furthermore I understand that GL was probably looking for an excuse to please his adolescent male fans by getting Carrie Fisher in a bikini, but...in reality she would have been horribly traumatized by this experience.  If the Star Wars universe were real, I imagine that Leia would have been horribly sexually assaulted, probably numerous times, prior to her escape.  These are evil, horrible monsters that clearly have little respect for the rights of others, and the only females you see in the group are slave dancers.  In the book Jabba actually kisses/licks Leia and later forces her to drink out of his goblet ("Soon you will learn to appreciate me.").  I know it's a kid's movie, but as an adult this part actually strikes me as pretty dark.

Sorry, not trying to be gross.  It's just a random thought that entered my head.
