Kenner used the same stationery for the form letter they sent me when I wrote them suggesting several toy ideas. ;)
I recall the legal wrangling over knock off toys. Since the concept of a "laser sword" had been around in scifi for a long time, they probably could only really go after anyone misusing the character likenesses and logos. I had a glow in the dark sword circa '78 that was probably a recycle of a mold for a more earthbound blade.
Kenner used to put a little (tm) or © after every mention of a character name or phrase in the text of their catalogs and packaging.
I'm still amazed George got "droid" copyrighted.
