Is anyone out there playing Doom 3. I picked it up when I got the new PC and it kicks ass. I'm running it at 800X600 with everything on except bip mapping (Is it bip?...anyway) and it looks great. I can only imagine how good it would look at 1600X1200. All I need now is another graphics card. I'll just wait six months and then get that one which will be replaced in another six months.

But anyway the game is about what I expected, basicly a graphic demo, but it's more fun that I thought it would be. Go figure.

Turn off the lights, Turn up the stereo, and get drunk. ROCK ON

i have the game also but just recently i've been having major video card problems... (think i fried it)
a couple of my friends have it and continue to rub it in...

from what they have told me though.. the only good thing about the game is the graphics... they said the story is nothing special and gameplay is the same on almost every level... but they said the game looks awesome...

unfortunatly i wont know for a couple more weeks..

other than the game looking extremely good, i must admit that i am not impressed at all by that game. too easy, too straightforward, no story, no interaction, environment too static...

i've heard it gets better as you get to the last couple hours of the game... but the first like 15 are pretty much the same stuff.... dark hall... monster pops out... dark hall ... monster pops out... etc..

I expected absolutely no story at all. Sort of like the original Doom you just get a shotgun and go to town. So I was surprised when it had a story at all. I just like blowing shit up anyway. If I want a story I'll watch a movie. In video games I just like to have fun and blow stuff up. But that's just me. So I’m a bit biased as far as how good the game goes. But for shear fun value nothing beats picking the chainsaw and running around chopping shit up.

What sucks is that by the time I have a good enought Graphics Card to play this will everything all the way up I won't want to play it anymore.

What's the hardware requirement if you want to play it at full graphic and sound?

I know if you play it on ultra high quality that is built for a 512 MB graphics card.

the requirments for the game are strange though...
i've seen it on my computer in both setting and to be completely honest.... i dont see that big of a difference...
medium settings still has all the real time lighting, body physics and all...

i know that ultra high does have some things that are better but i just cant notice it... therefore i could hardly care less...

and Mackey if you want a game where u just go around and kick ass...
Painkiller is definatly for you...
check that game out... its by far on of the most underappreciated games out there...

I've played Painkiller and I really didn't care that much for it. Weird huh? The graphics were awsome and I like the idea of it but it was too much of the same the whole game. Nothing really changed. A bunch of guys came at you and I killed them and a new area opened with more guys. I didn't like it much, go figure. It was fun though. I'm stuck on it and have yet to beat it. but now that I have Doom 3 I won't get back to it for some time I think.

ahhhh.... i kinda enjoyed the whole "shoot'm up" aspect of painkiller....
there was no real point of them game rather than just kick some ass... which i thought was good for a change...
and i loved the size of the levels... some were just so huge....

anyone here looking forward to Brothers in Arms?
this game is supposed to be the Starcraft of WW2 shooters... anyone else think it has a striking resemblance to Band of Brothers?

Best Buy is giving away Doom 3 for free when you buy a $300 video card.

Question: Would this be a promotion with the goal of moving the video card...or the game?
(i.e. is the game not selling that well, despite the hype)

up here Future Shop is gave you KOTOR and a video card for free to the first 10 customers...
now their just giving KOTOR for free...

That's the new Nividia card. It's also happens to be the only card that is backed by ID Software. So they more than likely gave a deal to Nividia to include it in the package. That is a good video card. To bad I just bought a new one six months ago. I'll wait another six months and i'm sure there will be another new card. But for right now there are only two better than that one.

well since i fried my video card and am comtemplating a way to get a new one free of charge...
im using a GeForce 2.....


can't even run Medal of Honor...

I'll tell you how to get a free one.

Ask around until someone wants you to build them a computer. Use their money to buy a kick ass graphics card and put in an ok one into their computer. You keep the good one because how will they know? Just make sure you fill that sucker up with tons of software for them.

It's the least you can do.

(I want to try this but haven't the guts or the heart for it personally)

well as good as an the idea is i also wouldn't have the guts to pull that off....

actually my friend took a GeForce4 from one of his work computers and just replaced it with my GeForce 2 for the time being...
so im back in action for now..

oh it was...
i couldnt play any games online whatsoever....
lol

but things are starting to look up...
i found an advanced RMA form on asus that im gonna fill out and hopefully will have a card which is better than mine in 14 days...
i would be happy with the same card but since they dont make mine anymore it looks doubtful...

as long as i have my TV out im happy...
and maybe if im lucky they'll give me one with a TV in...
