The best part about the two xenos, Was that once they awoken The engineer, He starts attacking them because he's been incubating a xeno inside of himself. Basically These primitive beings have awoken him to a death sentence, And his immediate aggression Has a bit more context.

This is what I do, besides fanediting.

ah ok, that sounds interesting indeed, something along the line what "the corporation" had in mind with Ripley and Co. in Aliens? - if that is what the other "engineers" tried to do - otherwise maybe they had a "cure" on "Paradise" to destroy/remove the parasite ...

yes, some fine plot ideas - well, time will tell what Scott and his writers have in storage for the sequel ;-)

One thing I forgot to mention, what I found rather peculiar, while watching your edit, the beginning kind of reminded me emotionally to "2001" or "2010" - maybe with some tweaking this could be pulled off in the whole movie ...

That's what I was hoping, Ridley wanted to turn the franchise he created in 79 into a 2012 action version of 2001:aso.

wayland's whole speech at the Ted talk says way more about human progress, then cutting from cave drawings to a spacecraft.

This is what I do, besides fanediting.

However, without some radical cutting its hard to make this feel more like 2001.

maybe when the sequel comes out, a cumulative edit of both may achieve this.

speaking of which, I hope the sequel doesn't include shaw or this David, I'd like to see this universe grow, rather then continue to tie up loose ends that really didn't need tying up.

This is what I do, besides fanediting.

I had a dream, while making this that was basically:

Shaw dies when the ship falls from the sky, leaving vickers alive with David at the ending.

If this film had the balls to kill basically it's main character, I think the rushEd fourth act would have been more interesting, As well as a sequel.

This is what I do, besides fanediting.

Didn't know about Ridley's motivation/s, but "Alien" hasn't THAT feeling to me - on any level - don't get me wrong it's an "AAA" movie, just doesn't give me THAT emotinal connection as "2001" (even "2010" it's not so strong anymore)

As for "shocking", some movies keep a level, some are gruesome, time tells if it stays a classic, when the first horror is gone, and only character-evolvement/story remains ...

I think what is the key to this strange "feeling" are a handfull of things: long scenes, minor dialog, brooding music - to transport the empiness of space across the moviescreen ;-)

sure, at the beginning, fast cuts from past to present, can push the transit, maybe even leave open a jump forward at the end ...

well, yes any story that kills off the "hero" is mighty brave, audience likes "happy endings" (some would say "crappy" *eg*)

maybe "Prometheus" might have benefited from it - maybe too, if the "Vickers-question" was answered - not left open ala Deckard (even when Ridley remained adamant, that he was/is a replikant)

As for continuation: I strongly believe that both Elizabeth and David are coming back (at least if both actors are available) - is it good or wise?

A nice twist could be to send another team after THEM, and not to ivestigate the "tombs" - though Weyland or Yutani (or whoever got the say) might send more guys into this system, just to knock things up, and see what creepy crawlies turn out (hm, kind of story from "Alien" ?!)

Better not show Liz&David's journey firsthand, just through "found documents" has a bit of "Blair Witch" to it ;-)

What's in a name?

when I started this project I felt like I was smart by including something to do with the wayland name in the subtitle.

it has come to my attention that another edit with a similar name is finished/nearing finished. So I'd like to change up the name, and possibly drop the Prometheus name alltogether.

should I call it PARADISE? LV_426? Any thoughts for this arbitrary aspect?

This is what I do, besides fanediting.

Author

oh, that's a shame - well, I wouldn't call it "Paradise", at least that is how Ridley wants to call the next chapter (if it isn't changed by then)

any referrence to what the story was (to be) called before it stuck with "Prometheus" ?

maybe "LV-426" would fit, if we agree that this is the same planet as was in "Alien" ... I kind of like short titles, simple names ;-)

Well, a big part of this cut was to make this planet LV-426. I cut out the hologram naming the planet LV-226, and also cut the birth of the birth of the deacon.

meaning, after he was face-hugged, he went back to the nearest ship to send out a message, or something, and finally he's found in alien.

And im back in the editing room, (finally), so who knows what I could do with this before the final.

Im a fan of Simple, one-word titles (and so is the franchise, minus Alien:Resurrection, but who counts that one?)

So, in this moment of haste, I plan on Releasing this as LV-426 from now on.

edit: I now realize this may mean losing the title at the end. maybe the LV_426 is the title with Prometheus as a subtitle?

This is what I do, besides fanediting.

no, Ditch "Prometheus" entirely. I've had similar ideas about how it could be LV 426 and it WAS one of the titles considered for the film...before the dark times, before Lindeloff ;)

It seems like all of the problems with the film come from taking what was a direct prequel to Alien and trying to make it into something else.

Author
Time

so "LV-426" is perfect indeed ;-)

hm, to bad the logo kind of looks cool, if one could remake that with the letters/numbers of the fanedit, THAT would be awesome ...

Author

Well, they considered doing it with the ' 426' in Roman numerals - So it would be LV IV II VI - A logo like that would be much better suited to the 'Alien' style slow reveal of the title.

Should be simple enough to mock up something like that..

Though im not a fan of the Roman numerals, some sort of title reveal would be necessary. If anyone would be willing to help me out, I'd be eternally grateful.

I guess I'll have to try something new with the ending, I'll post something soon

nice touch, but it would read more like this: LV-CDXXVI

one could even translate the "LV" to 55 ;-)

Would anyone be opposed to me cutting out the final attack with an engineer?

And ending the film on a more ambiguous note? I know I'm probably going to get the response of "It's your edit dude, go nuts"

I feel like cutting the fourth act, And all the ties that this would have that with a sequel, The overall standalone film will be better. I'll try to edit something and throw up a link tonight.

sounds interesting, I'm curious how you will end the film without the last battle ...

sure every new take on a story to improve the flow is welcomed ;-)

good that those rumors were not just promo for the (first) movie - and to have Noomie & Michael back on board is somewhat a positive sign (Lindeloff won't be around as far as I read ...)

so hoping to get to see more of the "engineer" culture - and more alive "giants" ;-)

from the cutscene (cropped intro) I got the notion, that there could be a religious and a military caste (or it could be all one bunch of "science-crusaders" ...) - will be interesting to see their homeworld, maybe even a glimpse of the "bigger picture" (=> "painter painting painter")

Editing is under way and I'm a little unsatisfied with my rough ending, i wish there was just 30 more seconds of Shaw crying on the ground.

hm, ever tried to loop a short sequence?

even pro's do that at times ;-)

about the clip: I really dig the opening (hehe, even the mainwindow does) - but somekind find the font a little bit plain ...
