Good news! We're really really closing in on releasing this one and it's gonna have the theatrical color timing! Not as oversaturated as the US theatrical DVD but still that original look.

Excellent!  Can't wait :)

Can't wait! this is the respect a film like this deserves.

Any update on this project?  Eagerly awaiting it's release!

The video itself is finished. But since DJ found out that his method of upsampling and synching the lossless LD-audio wasn't perfect, he had to redo it.

We're also waiting for a friend of his to finish a special audio track which we'll be including if all turns out the way we want it. It will be a brand new stereo mix, which will use the LD mono as center and the music in stereo. DJ is also experimenting on adding an LFE channel to it, so everyone with surround systems can get that extra bass out of it.

Can't wait for this. I don't like the color timing of the current Blu-ray.

Exactly... the color-timing on the blu-ray blows.  Please keep us updated on a possible target for the release and your efforts are greatly appreciated.  Can't thank all you guys enough for working on this project as Conan The Barbarian is one of my favorite films of all time and has never been done just right in HD with the proper sound mixing.  I'm really looking forward to this release.  You guys are champions among men... and if you do not listen, then to HELL with you!!  ;)

Don't worry, we won't fail you!

Otherwise Crom will cast us out of Valhalla and laugh at us.

I will only be laughing once I have this wonderful project in my hands !

I can give you a little update and it's that basically we're only waiting for ABC to finish the new stereo mix he's creating. As soon as it's done we'll release it!

Crom just laughed at my four winds... I apologized and explained that I was simply excited about the release.

Here's a preview of what the cover will probably look like:

I completely remade this one from a file DJ sent me. A file that was used to print the version you can see some pages back in the thread.

The front pic is taken from a highres scan of the poster painting by Renato Casaro which I cleaned up, balanced, increased saturation a bit and had to make wider to fit the blu-ray cover format. The logo is from a scan of the soundtrack vinyl cover, which I spent hours to clean up.

The idea of this cover was to look a bit like the US theatrical DVD cover, but the text on the back was kind of bad, so I googled around and found a scan of a WB PAL VHS release, which had the text that is there now.

The empty box on the bottom right of the back will be filled with info about the audio options and extras.

As my Partner said we are pretty much done, but we are waiting on some very nice extras from ABC, he is our 4th partner on this project, and what he has done and is doing is going to make the wait well worth it!

Thanks for the interest guys, but it is coming soon!

1 more thing, I got a lot of PM's on the DTS-HD MA 5.1 track, I am redoing this from scratch because of the things I have learned I believe I can make this even better, plus there were a couple more areas that needed to be addressed, so do not send any PM's on this audio yet, I will not re upload the old audio since I will be making a new one.

Thanks

Thanks again guys. For people without blu-ray burners, would you guys ever consider an AVCHD release as well? Just wondering but either way this is great news.

Isn't it possible to download it as blu-ray and convert it to AVCHD? I'm not familiar with the authoring of those formats so that's why I'm asking.

Yeah, you can convert the file... I used to use BDtoAVCHD back when it was a buggy program. Can anyone recommend good software to use nowadays? I prefer things like MultiAVCHD, Handbrake, DVD Auio Extractor, etc... I just like easy user interface software. If anyone knows the best software to convert BD to AVCHD, please enlighten us and thank you in advance. Much appreciated all the way around for this great project.

As far as I know these are the 'cream of the crop' and are free (Handbrake is decent too):

BD Rebuilder  (I think this is the only one that can do a FULL BD to AVCHD conversion complete with menus, extras etc;,)

Ripbot264

MeGui

AVCHDCoder
