2004 OT DVD release continuity error?! — Page 3

Well, I suppose it is from a certain point of view of here. Because if somehow Padme could be there, what about Qui-Gon, Mace, Ki-Adi-Mundi, Kit Fisto, Plo Koon, etc........

Right now, I am thinking ROTS will show just the right explanation, of how Anakin really does a physical death, but more importantly a death of his psychology, his existance as a person at all. In other words, the change will be so complete to Darth Vader, why he doesn't then show up old will work better. And Luke will be proven right with the words, "Then my father is truly dead."

i guess we can say that ROTS definatly is holding a lot of weight on its shoulders...
they have much to explain....
"Never. I'll never turn to the darkside. You've failed your highness. I am a jedi, like my father before me."

Well, I think you would agree that was true regardless if Hayden had been there or not.

And if you want to go for the fairy-tale ending, have Padme appear at young Anakin's side. I mean really, how happy an ending is it when the love of the main character's life, not to mention the mother of the OT's greatest heroes, is nowhere to be found at the big ending celebration, apparently lost forever to the afterlife. Kind of takes the cheer out of things, huh?
What kind of sick man wants to have a 24-year-old-wife when he died in his 40's? Get over that idea, it isn't realistic. Have you seen The Butterfly Effect? I (thank goodness) saw the Director's Cut first. But the Theatrical - there's an entire movie ruined in just the last 2 minutes. Same could be said for Blade Runner, but with the Butterfly Effect it's even more significant - it changes the entire movie! How the directors could be happy with that ending is far far beyond me, they should have fought 'till they were pale in the face for the right ending!!

If we are to believe that Anakin died the moment he became Vader, what was the point in Luke trying to bring him back from the dark-side? and they still haven't explained how Luke is meant to recognise Hayden Christianson as a younger version of his father?

The force is one of many ways he knows. The good he sensed in Anakin, the conflict. That good sense or feeling is Hayden. He can sense it in Hayden it appears. Not to mention with the similar Anakin Epi.3 to Luke Epi.4, he might have seen his picture before. But anyway, it is the force. "other places, the future, the past, old friends long gone." I then think Anakin Skywalker would qualify as a friend or at least something from the past of Luke's.

during a test screening they showed the audience the Dir. Cut ending and saw that most of them walked out of the theatre depressed and sad...
they didnt want that...
and therefore went with the other version...
i agree the theatrical cut was shit!

i still think if Lucas is going to show Hayden in ROTJ we need some sort of explanation as to why he came back...
speculation just wont do it...
after all if he has to spell everything else out for us... why not this?

he shouldn't need to spell it out, he just needs to justify making the change! oops I forgot it's HIS movie and he can do with it what he pleases , the 'almighty flanneled one' can do no wrong.
Author
Time
No, he can do wrong, but the debate is as always what changes are right and which ones are good or ok. That being a personal preference thing. But as for the stuff with Hayden, I agree with Luke, George will most likely spell everything out for us. At least that is the rumor since we have the whole dead Jedi body/Jedi Ghost continuity problem right now.

It's simple.
Anakin died,,Vader was born. Vader died, Anakin was re-born! - Sort of!
I dunno, but come 3, we'll all know, and think "Yeah, Lucas was right. The changes do make sense now. Well done George" -

Um...that's why I said they would all revert back to their PT selves and THEN Padme would appear.

if Padme ever appears i dont care what anyone out there thinks...
these movies have definatly went to the dogs...

just try and justify that as a legitimate change!

Padme being in ghost form? I don't really think I could, unless you saw a bunch of other dead non-Jedis or something. I mean, Yoda said the force was strong in Luke's family, but if Padme had any real talent any siginificant midi-chlorian count, wouldn't she have been taken to the Temple to become a Jedi?

Maybe she only became Forcey (is that a word?-don't think so) after her and Anakin done the dirty deed. He shot her full of midiclorythings - if you get what I mean?!?!

I think it's more likely that it'll go something closer to this: "Yeah, Lucas is insane. The prequels and changes have just confused things worse than ever. Well done George, you F#%&ed it up good and proper."

Did you mean what I think you meant?
“Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” — Nazi Reich Marshal Hermann Goering

Oh dear, I think you may have just inadvertantly created a new Star Wars based fetish.
