I’m working on removing some of the changes present in the Blu-rays, but restraining myself to only the most offensive updates. The intent is not to recreate the originals, but rather create a version of the Blu-ray editions that is watchable without groaning. This is going to be for people who don’t mind visual updates as long as they don’t detract from the story.

I’m first working on Return of the Jedi.

Changes I’m going to undo:

1997 Special Edition:

 • A new Jabba’s Palace Band musical number, “Jedi Rocks” replaces “Lapti Nek” with additional footage from the extended music number of “Lapti Nek.” The puppet of female alien singer Sy Snootles is replaced with a new CGI version, though prior to the number the puppet can still be seen in the palace with her original headdress feather in place.

2004 DVD:

 • When Anakin, Yoda, and Obi-Wan appear together in spirit form at the end of the movie, Sebastian Shaw is replaced by Hayden Christensen, showing a young Anakin, when he was still a Jedi, with an old Yoda and Obi-Wan.
 • Another scene of celebration, this time on Naboo, is shown after the Empire is defeated. A Gungan, whom many fans assumed to be Jar Jar Binks, can be heard saying “Weesa free!”

2011 Blu-ray:

 • Darth Vader now says “No” while Luke is tortured by the Emperor’s Force Lightning attack, and then immediately screams “Nooooo!” as he picks Palpatine up and hurls him into the Death Star’s reactor core.

Here’s what I’m using as my sources so far:

 • 2011 Blu-ray - primary source for both video and audio
 • 2011 Harmy’s RETURN OF THE JEDI - DESPECIALIZED EDITION AVCHD - used to replace selective shots listed above
 • 2006 NTSC DVD - using a piece of 5.1 AC3 to remove the “Nooooo!”

Here is what I would need some help with:

 • the best available rip of the 1997 Special Edition in order to seamlessly remove Naboo from the end sequence
 • DTS Master HD 6.1 - I’ve managed to extract and convert the lossy ‘core’ DTS part of the signal to 5.1 But I would like to have the uncompressed 6.1 audio to work with. Could anybody share software that could do the job (such as"ArcSoft TotalMedia Theater v2.1.6.113" which I could pair with Clown_BD)?
 • I wouldn’t mind if this version had some minor color correction where “offensive”, but I don’t have the experience to do it properly. I am using Adobe Premiere Pro CS6. To avoid lost quality from multiple conversions, maybe somebody could share a Premiere project with proper color correction filter that I could copy to my Blu-ray source video track?
