Oh, sorry, I just realized I said camera in that initial post. I meant projector. The camera would then be going 30fps while the projector would be doing a shutterless 24fps...

DeDuping would be difficult because different captures of the same frame won't be bit-for-bit identical.
A picture is worth a thousand words. Post 102 is worth more.
I’m late to the party, but I think this is the best song. Enjoy!

Yes, but having a frame count for each reel makes it easier, and you can de-dupe 90% of it just by calculating the histogram for each frame and deleting those that are very close. You will get 95% of the film de-duped by automated methods, and then spend a few hours doing the rest manually.
The big advantage is speed of course by going with real-time capture, downside is de-duping.
It would be preferably to trigger the light source to pulse once for each frame, then it is easy to de-dupe. You just don't want the black ones :)

Hi. Any fresh news about the project ? How is it going ?
Thanks to let me know
At work, I have a lot of processes that have to be developed and then automated and figured I might be able to offer some advice on automation based on personal experience.
My basic rule is to start out with a manual process and automate as you get the process working. When you try to build in all the automation before you even start, one little flaw in the design can sometimes cause a big disaster and it's a lot harder to figure out what is causing the problem.
In this scenario, is there a way to advance the projector manually and does the camera have a remote or cable that will let you take the photo manually without having to press a button on the camera itself and potentially cause it to shake? If so, start by building a setup that lets you manually advance the frame and then manually take the photo. After that, start looking for single steps you can take to automate. Is there a way to make the projector automatically advance one frame after you take each photo? If this works, then you can look at ways to make the camera take another photo after the frame advances or take photos at the right speed to catch each frame.
This is just my two cents. Hopefully, it will help.

I don't want to speak for ww12345, but I believe he's sending Song of the South and American Graffiti to poita, as he owns a 2K FlashScan.

That's exactly right. Song of the South is going first, and when it is finished, American Graffiti will go next. The way I prioritized it is American Graffiti has a BD and a DVD, Song of the South does not. :)
BTW, off topic a bit, does anyone know what the donation rules are here? I know that one preservation project is taking donations, but I wonder what the legality of it is...
