Funny, today this petition was mentioned on the first page of a swedish news website, with the text:

"They demand that the US builds the Death Star.
The investment would strengthen the country's military forces - Here is the White house's decision."

Then it says they've calculated it would cost 850 000 trillion dollars to build it. :)

Screw the DS, fund research into repulsorlift engines for mass transit and both solve the alternative energy problem and protect the environment.

That would mean one could actually cruise around in one's very own badass landspeeder.

Idunno.....

I see plenty of drivers that can barely control a vehicle that touches the ground. I can only imagine the accidents that floating cars (or even flying cars), will cause.

Besides, changing the type of engine/propulsion system won't instantly solve the energy problem.
