Now this is interesting.
That right there is the new release of Jackie Chan’s Police Story. On it is the original Hong Kong release in HD. The Extended release (the best version of the film) in HD from a 35mm print that has Japanese subs on it. And that same extended release in non anamorphic SD without subs (same transfer as the Japanese laserdisc, which I own).
The audio on the Blu Ray’s extended cut is apparently from the print. It will therefore have hiss, flutter and other flaws inherent to taking audio from an old optical track.
The laserdisc has super clean and clear PCM audio. I am capturing it now.
But I do not have the Blu Ray. I am out of mad money from buying so many imports to fix and create hybrids (The Terminator being the most recent: HD transfer + PCM Laserdisc sound).
Should anyone have access to it, I will do the work needed to create a true hybrid and restore this film to the best possible quality.
By the way, the forum is downright impossible to use today.
