Doctor Who — Page 19

The titles were even darker today.

Another egg and another Christmas reference (didn't spot a lightbulb).

The story started out alright, very Pertwee era but it felt like the first part of a three parter with the last few minutes of episode two and three spliced together and shoved on the end.

Why was the girl an android?

She would be better hidden as another cube.

Why were they kidnapping people?

What happened to the real Stephen Berkoff (he looked good but you could of got a lot more mileage out of him).

Another bit of fluff that added up to not much.

A bit more substance this week (not to mention the titles really going nuts).

A flashing bulb (but that is to be suspected).

I didn't spot any direct Christmas or Egg references but it does loop a bit to an earlier episode which started with mentions of eggs and Christmas.

I really wish the series had started later so the Christmas special would be closer.

Anyone catch the prominent Rolls Royce plaque?

Was Mr Greel a reference to that other time hopping Greel who had run ins with time agents and links to ancient China?

SPOILERS

I liked how they managed to kill them both off while letting them live happily ever after, but the whole episode seemed meh to me. The Angel rules seem to have gone from "don't blink, they move faster than light", to "feel free to turn your back on them as long as the lights are decently bright". It was a pretty good episode. I'm sure this new companion will do alright, though if the actress is playing the same character from Asylum, we'll have another "meeting someone when they die then watching them backwards", though I don't see the Doctor getting involved with another person he KNOWS will die.

Not if she isn't strictly speaking what she appears to be.

Any Loose Cannon recon fans here? If so, which ones are in your possession?

A picture is worth a thousand words. Post 102 is worth more.

I’m late to the party, but I think this is the best song. Enjoy!

Is it better to watch the classic series in production code order rather than air date order? I did it accidentally and the beginning of the serial mentioned something from the last serial I'd seen, but by air date it hadn't even happened yet. Not that it's much of big deal, I'm watching the third and fourth Doctors concurrently anyway.

I'll likely get into the audio adventures as well, but I'm kind of overwhelmed by the volume of material in the Whoniverse. I'm already familiar with Pertwee and Tom Baker which is why I started there, but I'm not sure whether to keep going with the fifth Doctor or check out the first two next. Any suggestions appreciated!

Check out William Hartnell (Doctor #1). He's a lot of fun!

I found the Big Finish audio dramas of the 5,6,7,8 Doctors much more enjoyable than their telly stories, I'm not a fan of JNT.

An improvement, but still not entirely happy. Please don't be campy... Please don't be.

And all I could think about in my head, after seeing the photos, was:

And next the men of the Second Armoured Division regale us with their famous close order swanning about.

Squad... Camp it ... up!

Oooh get her! Whoops!
I've got your number ducky.
You couldn't afford me, dear. Two three.
I'd scratch your eyes out.

Don't come the brigadier bit with us, dear,
We all know where you've been, you military fairy!

Whoops, don't look now girls,
The major's just minced in
With that dolly colour sergeant,
Two, three, ooh-ho!

They've come a long way from the wetsuits painted silver I saw in the 70's.

Why the Beeb never sued Paramount over the Borg I'll never know. ;)

Where were you in '77?

Not too keen on the torso.

I'd prefer them to be more like animated body bags than wearing an He-Man S&M Man-Bra leading to a six-pack/Jock-strap combination.

It's all too Iron-Man.

My personal favourites are The Tenth Planet Cybermen.

The way they would open their organic mouths and all the words would fall out at once like vocal vomit still gives me the creeps, as do the naked human arms, uncomfortably fused with metal and plastic.

I really dig the new look. As long as they get rid of the *STOMP* *STOMP*

and the "DELETE" I'm sold. These look like Mondasian Cybermen.

That news is pretty old man. Like, a month old or something.

That news is pretty new somewhere in the universe. Besides I wasn't on here a month ago.

Not sure about the 'smiley' roundels.

Why has every Tardis interior decorator avoided the classic roundel pattern since 1996?

It's the one aspect of the original set that has remained timeless if you ignore that wall that was really a giant roller blind.

I would like to see the giant interior bank vault doors return and have some WTF special effect for the transition to the wooden exterior door.

In other old/new news.

I cant wait for Doctor Who!!

I got this Doctor Who tee for Christmas and it has been the envy of my friends since :)

It's amazing that they have it in 2XL as well

I'm not sure if this is spam. If it is, should we be offended by the implication we need it in 2XL?

I'd say yes to both.

It's the same guy from this post, joined up that same day:

I don't wish to be mean, but joining a forum just to hurl merchandise at us? Not exactly praiseworthy.

I'm sorry but that's what it looks like.

Given that the ownership of the IP of the Daleks is peculiar in whatever way it is, could "Star Wars 7" be the Alliance vs. Daleks? And wouldn't that be awesome!
