Alright, I think I should share this.

I started a thread pointing out why I find it silly when people criticize the OT for failing to mesh with "facts" established by the PT. I'm having a useful discussion with one person there, but he seems to be the only one getting (and only with some real talking) what I'm getting at. Sure, I like the OT better, but if you like the PT, that's cool. Sure there are inconsistencies between the trilogies that were created by the PT. Sure there are retcons within the OT that I find much more enjoyable than those created by the PT. But the point is that if you have a problem with the OT, and that problem arises because you think something in the PT counters it, then your view is skewed. The PT came second. The PT changed the story. The PT created the inconsisency. Thus, the PT is to blame, not the OT, for your strange issue with the story.
I'm trying to be patient and respectful, but most of the posters there simply seem to be jumping on the "typical oldschool OT fanboy" bandwagon and try to refute my reasons for preferring the OT or criticize me for holding the two trilogies to different standards. I think anyone who puts down the PT in any way is quickly scorned for not embracing the whole saga, and they immediately become defensive against what they think I'm trying to say, rather than what I'm actually saying.
