The British have horrible teeth, the Polish are dumb as dirt, the French are a bunch of pansies and cowards, Russians are a bunch of fun loving drunks, Canadians are a bunch of fat docile but very friendly idiots who eat shit tons of bacon while guzzling beer and watching hockey, oh yeah, and they say "aboot" a lot and end every sentence with "eh", the Jewish are greedy and conspiring, the Irish are a bunch of mean alcoholics, the Scotts are a bunch of cheap ass skirt wearers, Australians are a bunch of bums, the Welsh men love their sheep in the biblical sense, Asians have tiny cocks but damn do they know their technology, Americans are fat religion obsessed gun lovers who are all secretly closet homosexuals, and so on.
All these stereotypes are born out of ethnocentrism. You'll find it on a global scale, you'll find it on these boards, you'll find it in your neighborhood, and you'll find it in the workplace. When you don't understand or see eye-to-eye with someone, then clearly, there is something really f-ed up about them and they obviously don't think right or see the world in the correct way. It's easy to look at someone with a different worldview or values or culture than yourself and roll your eyes and moan about how ignorant and ridiculous they are.
Zombie, a board member I generally find to be quite intelligent, has made an awesome victory in the name of ignorance here. Yay for close minded ignorant ethnocentrism!!! Wooooo!!!
And as far as creationism and intelligence goes, some of the smartest and most well educated people I have known have been creationists of one type or another. I don't think you can fairly mix intelligence and religious beliefs. One is fairly objective, and the other is completely subjective to ones culture and upbringing. Someone can be very highly educated and extremely intelligent and still feel a tendency to lean toward their culture's religious beliefs for comfort in the unknown and for meaning in life in general. Also, just because someone decides they believe in evolution and put their trust in science for answers, doesn't, by any means, mean they are the least bit intelligent.
