I don't think anyone responded to the sweeping generalizations about all Americans because the statements themselves were born of ignorance rather than bigotry.

Hey... I'm a 'Murican and I'm smart (if that's what we're calling believing in evolution these days).

As much as I want to agree with you, zombie, I can't. You can't really say that every person who believes in religion is an idiot.

Here's why: I ask you "which are better, men or women?" You, presumably, say "they are equal." Someone in, say the Middle-East (using this as an example, not stereotyping) says, "men are better." You call them an idiot. But why are they an idiot? You say all people are equal. They say men are more equal than women. You find this preposterous. They find what you say preposterous. Both of you are arguing values you've learned since a very young age. If you grew up in the Middle-East, can you honestly say that you would think men and women are equal? I don't think you could. You would have no reason to. "But they are equal!" you say, "There is no reason why one person is inherently better than another." I agree. But that's just the morality we grew up with. I tend to think it's the right morality. Why shouldn't they be equal? Well, some Middle-Easterns think differently. You think there idiots, and their beliefs have no foundation. But they see that men and women are different, physically, and they have been treated differently for centuries; so these people have no reason to suddenly think that women are equal.

Same goes for religion. Sure, there's no tangible evidence to back up the existence of a deity, but people who are religious rely on faith, on what they, and the generations before them have been taught. Sure, they've heard the arguments of naysayers, but they have no reason to believe what they've learned is false, and what their ancients scriptures said happened, never did.

Yes, there are a lot of religious people who are dumb. But it's not always because they believe in creationism. When it is, it's people blindly religious (and some people too religious [but that's a topic for another time]). People who believe in a god because, well, everyone else does. Those people are idiots, and they've never truly considered the issue. But people who were brought up to believe in a divine power through faith do so not because they are stupid, but because that is, and always has been, part of the foundation of their beliefs.

By the way, sorry to anyone I might have offended by comparing religious people to sexists.

As for religion in government, we live in 'Murica, you're an idiot if you think religion should play any role.

I don't have time to deal with this at the moment. Zombie84, I sure appreciate your suddenly softened wording. However, you clearly made several statements that actually branded the entirety of Americans and our culture as idiotic. And even if you speak only of our government, as a republic, it is representative of the people. You are free to disagree with how we do things. But you have made bigoted statements, regardless of how noble you feel because you stand against other forms of bigotry. I don't mean to say you are a bigot, or at least any more guilty than the rest of us. Sadly, if we were all to reflect, we'd all find ourselves bigoted in some thoughts. But you have been rather insulting today as well as foolish in your statements. I don't appreciate it, and I pointed out your fallacies.

This is the thing.

I'm not saying that all Americans are idiots. Or crazy. Clearly that is not the case. Why? Most people you meet on the english speaking internet are American. Many of my friends are American. I go to United States on a semi-regular basis. It's a place I know very well.

My point is that, up here, a lot of the views and actions that we hear about...don't click. They perplex us...and offend us. And this happens all the time. We're neighbours, so we all know that not every American is a ranting lunatic. But increasingly it feels that way, and not without good reason. You guys should listen to this even if you don't agree, because this is the way the rest of the world sees the United States and I think Americans don't quite get that. A guy in Italy might not know the first-hand things that I know from visiting, he just will hear about stuff like creationism and gun fetishizing that frankly makes your culture look like a scary, backwards, ignorant country. Which it is in many ways. But they don't know the good side as well.

I'm not saying every American is like that. Obviously that is not true. Because in the first place: I am outnumbered here. So that clearly proves me wrong. But when you consider just the discussions happening at a government level, that is in theory supported by--if not a majority than at least a large percentage--of Americans, and the views espoused by individuals all over the place...it just comes across as crazy. Because of this terrible news story you become aware of stuff like this. And everyone who isn't in the United States thinks what I am thinking, they just might not say it...which is "what in the world is wrong with these people?"

As I said...by American standards I must seem like some demented psychopath. Our government is ruled by a far right party that believes in gun control, universal health care and gay marriage. That is right wing by Canadian standards. I'm not a right-wing Canadian. I voted for the socialist party, in second place positiion which is now the official opposition (parliament, remember) and has a chance at winning the 2014 election. When I hear about all the crap that goes on in the south of me...perplexion is a polite word to use. But even the conservatives wonder what in the world is in the drinking water down there. And so do people in the rest of the western world. I don't think Americans are aware of this because they live in their own bubble. It seems "ignorant" and "shocking" for me to come out and say this, but it's true, by the standards of an entire country bordering the United States, United States politics seems like a crazy, ignorant, backwards thing. That's why it is hilarious when sociopaths like Donald Trump threaten to move here should the best president in living memory be re-elected...come on up here buddy, and prepare to meet the personalized hell for you. If those are your criteria.

Like I said: perplexion is a polite word. We're usually too polite to say anything other than shaking our head and sighing. Which is why I usually stay out of American politics all together. It's too depressing.

It has indeed.  I can admit when I have been suckered and acted foolish for taking such news as fact.  I think a lot of people who report on conspiracy theories truly want to help other people, but the ones who create them are just scum bags.

I hope this has taught you a lesson about conspiracy theories.

The problem is there are conspiracies and pretending that there aren't is just as dangerous and blind as pretending they are behind everything and actually work.

From personal experience, most organisations or even groups of individuals are up to to some flavour of no good (I know I am).

But they have no supreme power.

The conspiracies cancel each other out to a great degree so the nutters running corporations, countries or cults frequently don't win.

It doesn't mean they aren't trying to win or that sometimes some of this information pushed around the internet isn't accurate or touching on something real.

It just means the world is a bit more complicated than good guys and bad guys or even blood sucking shape shifting reptiles from Zeta Reticuli.

Sometimes the good guys are fighting each other over the right to shoot the, bound, gagged and rather nice to know if you would take his gag off for two seconds, bad guy currently in a warehouse in Stirling if it isn't too much trouble?

are there real actual conspiracies?  yes

Was moon landing faked?

Did Bush do 911?

Did Hollywood set up the Connecticut shooting?

Is Elvis still alive?

the answer to all those questions is  resounding NO.   And anyone that things otherwise is nuts.

The "right to bear arms" part of the US constitution is as out of date as the right to slavery. It was written in there in pioneer times during the wild wild west, when there was danger all around and not much government. To Canadians it is bewildering--and also hilarious and sad--that this has remained. It's an obsolete law, just like owning a dildo in Arkensas can technically send you to a prison.

... I suggest studying the examples of the past century where firearms were successfully taken from citizens - countries such as Germany, the Soviet Union, Turkey, China, Uganda, Guatemala and Cambodia to name but a few. Despotic leaders in these countries killed untold millions of their own citizens after depriving them of their rights to bear arms. In these extreme cases, such deprivation clearly did not guarantee security.

This isn't a personal attack, zombie84.

I know some people really had a problem with Anakin killing a classroom of children in Episode 3.  It always annoyed me (why couldn't Palpatine or the Clone Troopers have done it?), but never disturbed me.  But now it does.

There is no redemption for that.  Saving your son from an evil wizard doesn't undo that kind of sin.  You don't get to come back as a youthful, happy ghost.

Seriously George, Han Solo shooting a damn BEM bounty hunter in self-defense needs to be censored, but Anakin killing kids is OK because he "brings balance to the Force"?

I really hope Adywan fixes this when he gets to Ep3.  Change the perpetrator to the Clone Troopers or Palpatine.  Or just cut the scene completely.  That scene was mainly just for nepotism anyways.

OK that Sandy Hook map in DKR reference is getting much stranger...

I truly have no idea what is going on!

I will post this link only for people who might want to know why people might be looking into this type of thing.  The link below will start the video at the section that refers to the map. I did this to by-pass the sections about the reference to Batman's grandfather creating "Skull and Bones" (a clip from the 60's TV show) and the multiple reports by ABC NEWS of there being two shooters at the School.

I've often thought realizing that one was taken in by a ridiculous hoax would encourage one to be a more critical thinker. Never cease to be amazed at how wrong I am.

Look. I am not saying that the reference it truly connected, but I am interested in the connections people are making. That people are making these videos is a fact. I am not making these claims, but look how a movie has some people going to great lengths to draw connections. This is a examination of that effect on people only. I am not asking anyone to buy into the connections, but for them to see how a major motion picture is being used in connection to a media event.

Edit:

The title of this thread is " Did DKR warn us about recent "False Flag" shootings?", not OMG! DKR truly warned us about recent False Flag shootings!!!"

there is a HUGE difference.   Yet, I will admit that I was truly questioning the connection about the father banking scandal connection, but I dug into the sources and found it was being reported as a hoax by reliable sources.
