Star Wars is just dumb meaningless shit. It is a bunch of people watching a stupid movie, and even more people obsessing about them playing the stupid video games based on it.

Some things are far more valuable and beneficial than others (obviously I am not talking about an SW marathon, or WoW here).

and when did I ever say there weren't things more important than sports?

Never made a claim that you did. You just flipped my comment around and aimed it at Star Wars, and I posted a quote from myself taken from the same post of mine you quoted and flipped.

Though honestly, if I knew someone who had to have a Star Wars marathon every Monday night for a portion of the year, and screamed at their tv urging the characters to take certain actions, and cheering obnoxiously every time something good happened, then felt the need to make small talk about Star Wars at bars and in any other public places while wearing part of their favorite SW character's costume; beyond thinking they were one of the biggest, saddest losers I've ever encountered, I'd probably find them just as annoying as sports fans, maybe even a little more.

Warb, it is perfectly cool you and others like sports so much. I am really not judging you for it. It is just a cultural thing I can't wrap my head around and am often made to feel really awkward about. When I see posts like the one by georgec, someone who used to be into sports, kind of still is, but also kind of feels the way I do about them, it is hard not to want to respond because it is kind of exciting to hear from people who relate to me. The things said in this thread the last few days have been awesome to me, because in the real world people that feel this way are so far and few between (and tend to usually end up being kind of weird and/or anti-social, or the sort I don't relate to in any other way). It really isn't a judgement on you. I think you are taking it way to personally. I don't relate, I think it is really silly, and I like ranting about how silly I find it. But a lot of people I really love, care about, and get along with well are also big into sports. It's cool.
