That's one of the best fanedits I've seen.  Thanks, very much, for your work.

Hey strangeland, thanks for making this edit. If ever there was a recent film in need of re-editing, it was/is Prometheus. Out of curiosity, will you be making an HD version as well? (I know I haven't been following the thread; much apologies).

And, if there is a further cut of this in the future, do you mind cutting out the Aliens line reference?

Author

Oh yeah! Upon reviewing my SD version, I plan on making a few more hidden tweaks for a HD 720p copy of it.

Im hoping that'll be out CHRISTMAS DAY. But I can't guarantee it at the moment!

Also about the aliens reference... Do you mean the line "our first alien.." From David?

This is what I do, besides fanediting.

Cool, I thought you would. I'm holding off on watching the official Blu-Ray, so I can watch your edit with fresh eyes, judging it on its own merits.

Nope, I actually meant the line "David, we are leaving!" It's said by Charlie in the cave when they are trying to get David to leave behind work/go with them to get back to the ship, and it's a reference to a line of Hicks in Aliens. It just seemed like an unnecessary reference that was too esoteric for most and too arbitrary to amuse, not serving to further the plot.

Oh! I never caught that reference!!

i took it as a feeble attempt to built tension for the coming storm while David takes forever to put the canister in a bag.

ill see if I can take it out of the mix, but it's not a priority of mine.

I won't be able to unhear it now....

Exactly, that's what it comes across as because that sort of line only works in high tension action movies (ala Aliens). Scott doesn't know how to direct those kinds of movies like Cameron did (not that that's a bad thing).

ill see if I can take it out of the mix, but it's not a priority of mine.

Oh yeah, if you can't take it out easily, don't bother. It's just a bit irritating, is all.

I am pleased that I found this thread. The summary (added/deleted) looks really interesting, although much original scenes are deleted in this new edition. I created a account for this interesting site and hope that I could see this great work soon :-)

I did have the chance to watch this.  Now... let me say that I have NOT seen Prometheus as of yet.  I did like the idea of this project and I found it enjoyable to watch as a stand alone piece.

Thanks for the hard work and for sharing.

Cheers!!!!

I have to add a few things as I didn't realize what I had until I watched it alone and with my full attention.

I love what I saw and it was my first time seeing it all the way through unhindered.  What I did notice and was a little disappointing though not heavily distracting was stuttering video in places, a drop in volume in some places due to separate sources probably, and brief spaces where I'm guessing cuts or additions were made.  Some of the glitches may well be due to compression/processing but that's just a guess.

As a whole, it was VERY cool.  I appreciate your hard work and thank you for the chance to see it this way first.

Yeah I've been getting complaints about technical issues, And I'm trying to fix all the hiccups before I release the final high definition version. I may have released it a bit too early but I really wanted to stick with my goals, for the most part haha.

I've been held up with other fan edits and personal work, And I won't leave this on the back burner for too much longer.

Glad to hear you guys have enjoyed it!!

Hey, thanks for sharing your edit.

I was very pleased with the many new cuts, but thought that the training-clips would have worked much better as bridges throughout the first half of the movie - to further the character introductions and possible motivations they have.

Starting off with Weylands monologue is a brilliant way to show how the corpoation and mankind is pushing into the stars ...

There are two scenes I would reduce to maximize the "unseen" horror - for one the "pod scene", to show how she is cut open, is just gross (and strange - shouldn't there be much more blood?) - and the "hugging" of the engineer: faster, shorter cuts, and leave an open end to his fate ;-)

What I found interesting, is that in light of the "letter" Weyland wrote about "replicants", that with some cuts, Vickers could be just one of them, even one that can have intercourse with humans - and it would explain the "father/daughter"/ "sister/brother" relations that are hinted in the movie.

Technically, there were some glitches in picture, sound was ok, as far as I noticed - maybe when some cuts are "refined", the HD version could benefit from it :-)

Keep up the good work!

I agree about showing too much of the facehugger and the engineer, and somewhat fixing the pacing of the med pod scene. Those could benefit from some tightening.

after some time I've fallen out of love with cgi fifield. I wish I could just delete the whole scene, and only have the C-section as the action climax... It's never brought up again (as far as I know), and is only there to get some xeno-esque action somewhere in the film after lindelofs draft.

Also, on that subject, has anyone read the script before he touched up on it? Or listened to the writer's commentary with both Lindelof and the other writer? He had some interesting ideas that made this feel more 'alien3' with two xenomorphs running around for the finalie, one of which being a 'hybrid' that bursts out of holloway during sex with shaw.

This is what I do, besides fanediting.

hm, I haven't read the pre-Lindelof script, but heard about the Holloway scene - don't know what to think of it...

Two "Aliens" wrecking havok would be a little crazy - on the other hand, if the engineer and the "Xeno" ran amok, only to be drawn togehter (Oops AvP!), that could have been awesome ;-)

Hope we don't have to wait another 10+ years before "part 2" comes out - I'm also very interested in Ridley's "Blade Runner 2" - need to read the books though, I got all of them, but so far only read "Do androids dream of electronic sheep" - kind of an eye opener, like all of P. K. Dick's stories, and totally different to what we got on film...
