George is methodist isnt he? So still an outlier. :P
Yeah I think George is Christian but has also studied Buddhism.
He is an outlier in other ways too. So many people in Hollywood are obsessed with image but Lucas wears jeans and flannel. He doesn't try to impress anybody.
I wish that I could just wish my feelings away...but I can't. Wishful wishing can only lead to wishes wished for in futile wishfulness, which is not what I wish to wish for.
His head of 'hair' is rather astonishing.

One of the few non-jews in Hollywood.
Okay then...
I love and respect George Lucas for creating Star Wars, for his tenacity, for his revolutionary work in film. He's got a vivid and fascinating imagination, and while in more recent years he's gone overboard with his ideas, he's done brilliant work in the past, and I can't help but admire him.
Of course, I don't respect his revisionism, or many of the choices he made with the prequels, but nobody's perfect, eh?

I fancy him more than you do.
Love's not a competition, but Bingo's winning...
Hang on a moment there.
I didn't say anything about love, I barely know the guy.
I do find him fiendishly attractive but it's safe because it's not as if either of us are in a position to do anything about it.
Our respective better halves would probably have something to say on the matter that's for sure.
I don't "hate" the man. Despite the state of the special editions and the prequels, I am grateful that he made them. He has let himself be influenced by the wrong people and became too trusting of his own abilities. He is only human, like the rest of us.
He glorifies everything that's wrong with Hollywood, so I can't help but dislike the guy.

Interesting comment for an artist who managed to control his destiny totally divorced from Hollywood. He has absolute control over his production, and answers to no one, which is pretty much the exact opposite of Hollywood.
The independent spirit is only appreciated when it makes what we like.

Don't get me wrong, I love George. But I do agree with DuracellEnergizer to some degree here. George started off as this rogue independent filmmaker who was going places and doing it on his terms and he was doing it in flannel and blue jeans. He was kind of a badass. He achieved freedom and independence from Hollywood, then he just kind of tanked. He made/produced several crappy little films, and then got stuck on the brand names and over saturated the market with Indy and Star Wars, a very Hollywood thing to do. I think Graffiti, Star Wars, and Raiders are all really fantastically made films. I would have loved to see George take this creativity, and to continue working on fresh projects with it. Instead, he broke away from Hollywood to become his own mini-Hollywood. So much lost potential.
The Boost is right too though, while he fell into the Hollywood tradition of milking his cash cows for all their worth and other not so indy spirited things, he still did it on his terms and with complete creative control. You still have to admire him for that. Still, ah, so much missed potential! The young George Lucas is one of my absolutely favorite film makers, I really want to see more from that guy!
