Yeah! There are also a few places where other colours are over-saturated in parts of the frame. It also has a chroma shift problem that has to be fixed in AviSynth, else you have grey lines on the sides of faces and such.

It has the best resolution of all the laserdiscs, the most frames accounted for and the most colour problems, unfortunately (sometimes the colour is excellent in places, though). I am, however, convinced they're all fixable, it will just take a few days of work that I haven't really put into it yet.

I'm also convinced, as far as ANH goes, that this is the source with the least amount of missing frames (the US version has more missing frames/fields, broadcast versions are missing a few frames at least) as I think its only actually missing 1 frame. I've not doubt I'll corrected if I'm wrong, but from what I can remember of my last attempts to capture of this set a few months ago, that was the number I came up with.

Ok here's something I don't understand.

DJ gave me the 2004 SE NTSC version of ANH, so we could use it as a reference to synch to. The SW title card appears at 719, not 711.

I just wanted to correct what I said here. It seems that this was caused by some kind of lag when decoding the h264 file I got from DJ.

To make it synch better when running stacked vertically on top of the 97 SE I had to convert it to mpeg2, and suddenly the title card did appear at 711.

Thanks for clarifying that. h264 can be a real pest to edit because it has so much lag, probably due to its complexity, its generally a good idea to convert to a 'friendly' format first; Lagarith lossless AVI's are good because they're nice and quick. ;)

Related to this, doesn't converting to something lossless lead to HUGE file sizes? Or way back when I was trying to do such a thing, was I doing it wrong? Sorry I'm pretty new at all this

May the Force be with you.

It does. That's why I chose mpeg2. I only needed to see the frame differences, and a lossless file of ANH 2004 SE in DVD resolution would be about 14gb or something.

It does lead to huge file sizes but the result you get is generally faster and more compatible than MPEG2 (which is very compatible itself, but slower to edit with, at least on all of my systems). I have 6.5TB of storage so space is admittedly not much of an issue. It all depends on what you're trying to do, if you're looking at frame differences then MPEG2 is a perfectly acceptable choice. I've done similar things with h264 encoded videos on occasion, its just slow at seeking frames. For capturing or editing, however, I never stray from lossless codecs; files aren't as big as uncompressed AVI, and you aren't compressing to a lossy format (such as capturing straight to MPEG2) before filtering/editing.

Hi, I'm really enjoying watching the progress you make and I'm looking forward to seeing the 97 SE versions restored, since they were the first versions I saw of the original trilogy.

Yeah, but since the TB version which I'm working with is in mpeg2 I thought what would synch up best would be another mpeg2 file. And I'm getting really short on space with all these Star Wars projects! haha

Hey guys does anyone know what happened to msycamore's m2v? I was checking my seeds when I noticed the m2v said 'Failure: Torrent not registered with this tracker'. I went back and checked MySpleen and the m2v is gone. Anybody know why?

Yeah, I noticed it was removed. Don't know the reason behind it, maybe they deleted it because it was a video only file. But they seem to approve audio only uploads so I honestly don't know...

We want you to be aware that we have no plans—now or in the future—to restore the earlier versions.

I had an idea today....what if someone took the "DTS" audio from the 5 Star DVD "import" collection and somehow used it to trim and time the actual DTS Theater audio we've got available....is this idea feasible?  I mean, it would at least be timed to the LD video ...... so it would make sense that one might be able to match the two if they were audio savvy enough, no?

That's the second unusual removal I've heard of recently from myspleen. I wonder if they're getting stricter with uploads.

I can upload a copy of it somewhere on the WWW if someone needs it.

 Which one was the first?

Thanks, please do if there's desire for it. Teeceezy, otherwise I would recommend that you just wait for some of the other '97 projects going on around here.

I'd be curious to know which one was first too.  I mean it's weird for a place to take something down with no explanation to the original uploader about what issues there were to begin with.........I'm glad I got to snatch it before it went poof.....and it is cool of AntcuFaalb to put it up somewhere else if it's needed by others.

I can do it tonight.

I'll use 7-Zip to split it into two separate archives and then I'll upload each half to a dummy Google Drive account.

The DTS audio that synced with msycamore's m2v was removed as well. The unprocessed DTS audio is still there but the processed audio for ANH:SE is gone. Maybe that was the other one. Nice to have gotten both before they were pulled, but I still wonder why they would be pulled when compared to the other Star Wars stuff on there.

Part 1/2 has been uploaded.

I need to go out, so I'm sending Jetrell Fo the link. PM him if you want it immediately, I guess.

I'll start uploading part 2/2 tonight.
