The Language of Lucas

Has anyone else noticed how Lucas pronounces things different than they are in the films?

Such as, NAEboo, GOONgans, Count DOUGHKOO, AlderAAAn, etc. What gives? If that's the way they're SUPPOSED to be said, then why didn't he correct the actors? I happen to think his pronunciation of Dooku allows you to to take the character much more seriously than DOOKOO.

On a similar note, he also refers to lightsabers as laserswords most of the time.

I've noticed this over the years too... it's pretty funny. The one that really got me was his pronunciation of Hoth with a long "O". Not one character in ESB ever calls it that. Why does he?

On a similar note, why does Lando say "Han" with that nasal "A" when everyone else says "Hahn"? I sort of like that, though. I just wonder if it was coached to imply a diversity in dialects, or Billy Dee just had a different idea than everyone else and ran with it.

Maybe George Lucas is Canadian, ey?
Sure, I could have stayed in the past. I could have even been king. But in my own way, I am king.
Hail to the king, baby.

I'm starting to think Star Wars is one big inside joke by Lucas. He puts out this movie that everyone likes and then changes it. And then when they get used to that he changes it again. And then he changes how things are supposed to be said. Next it won't be star wars but "The War In The Stars"

“You know, when you think about it, the Ewoks probably just crap over the sides of their tree-huts.”

there were similar inconsistencies in the original trilogy with pronunciations Han- Ha-rn, Leia -Layer- Lee-ah, Chewbacca-Chew-barker, it probably has more to do with the mixture of British and American actors in the film.

Although I prefer the sound of Count Dough-koo to Count Dookoo, Dookoo just sounds plain silly.

AFTER SAYING THIS HOW CAN WE POSSIBLY BELIEVE GEORGE WHEN HE SAYS IN THE COMMENTARY OF AOTC, THAT THE STORMTROOPERS ARE CLONES?, MAYBE HE'S GOT ALTZHEIMERS?

COMMENTARY ON THE NEW EDITION OF A NEW HOPE

GL- "AND IN THIS SCENE INDIANA JONES AND HIS PET GORILLA JO-JO ARE ESCAPING FROM THE DEATH ORB IN THE ALUMINIUM FALCON"'

Hmmm... nice way to think about it. But, just remember, he pronounces it "AILSHYMUHRS".

Actually, Motti, "Dough-koo" is much more appropriate since money is all Luca$ thinks about anymore.

He seems to use the latin pronunciation of vowels in names like Alderaan and Naboo...

maybe he has a speech impediment, there are many people who have it and know how to pronounce one word but unfotunately they pronounce it wrong, it isnt their fault

well George is the one making up these words, he's the only one who can pronounce them right, and everyone else has the speech impediment?

reminds me of a South Park Episode, 'I have a rare form of brain cancer which means I can't pronounce the 't' in the word PLANE_ARIUM'
