It was a remark based on the misspelling of the word definetly. If one is going to take someone to task for spelling errors make sure that your own spelling is on point.

Hey, hey, hey, this forum is not a spelling contest! Yet.

*Hesitates replying because of the sudden appearance of grammar/spelling nazis*

At any rate. I think that id still end up buying the SEs. I think at this point if Lucas releases the O-OT they are going to be pretty much bare bones - which would be fine with me truthfully. Id be inclined to purchase the SEs just to see how far he has gone with this revisionist thing. Ive heard some truly wacky stuff about Haydn Chr...whatever being edited in over Shaw. That really bugs me, and id like to see if its true. There are a ton of others, but id just be rehashing.
The only way I think I wouldnt buy the SEs after the O-OTs (if they were made available) is if they both had the same supplimental material, etc. I just couldnt see the point then since I have the VHSs of the '97 releases.

Its sad to me in hindsight that the only versions ive seen in theatres were the SEs, but thats just my luck for being born a few years too late. Id really like to have a quality, durable format of the O-OTs. I love them so.

Tiny differences to the soundtrack / opening crawl are irrelevant, to me and most others the original Star Wars is any version where Greedo doesn't shoot first and Jabba the Hutt doesn't appear until Return of the Jedi. If the only changes Lucas had made to the SE's had been tiny alterations and minor fixes, then this site wouldn't have a reason to exist.

pretty much....
we would be awaiting the OT's release in September rather than these other versions...

Not to be a dreaded grammar Nazi but I think it's funny that so far no one here has spelled 'definitely' correctly.

It has to do with measurement and precision, similar to finite, it refers to distinct limits.

But enough about that.

I will not be buying the New Original Trilogy Star Wars DVDs, acronym: NOT SW DVD.

I was thinking about it but the 'Hayden's ghost' thing combined with the 'Kiwi Boba Fett' broke the camel's back on this issue.

I am now sorted thanks to Rikter and am no longer angry at Lucas just disappointed as I really did want to own an official Star Wars DVD set but he wil not have my money until he releases the unmolested OT.

The amazing thing is he could have had twice my money and everyone else's here doubtless if he had released a deluxe boxed set containing new transfers of the OT AND his horrible NOTs in the same package like the Alien Qualdrilogy.

I wouldn't have hesitated to own such a comprehensive Boxed Set and it would have joined the other volumous tomes in my DVD library. Obviously the changes are too great to seamlessly branch across and so would have required a disc per version of the film plus assorted extras discs.

They could also have put out a DVD boxed set of just the NOT and made the O-OT exclusive to the deluxe set.

This multiple release option was used for the E.T. DVDs you could choose old and new or just new. I chose neither as I've never been a really big fan of E.T.

This would have been the option to make the most cash for Fox and LFL. If they released two separate boxes one of the OT and one of the NOT then of course most of us old fans are going to purchase just the OT and leave the NOTs to the Jimbos of the world. However if they gave consumers the choice between NOT or both NOT & O-OT there would be less of an uproar and more money flying their way.

Consumers like choice and don't like being shafted.

I would really like to have seen the documentaries on the upcoming DVDs but I'll just pass on them if they only come with the new horribly disfigured version of Star Wars. If I could somehow get this extras disc on its own then I would. (Anyone?)

Hell no.

What's the difference between a dead skunk in the road and a broken SE box set in the road?

There's skid marks in front of the skunk.

If the Indy release is anything to go by, in the months following the release there was a swarm of Temple of Dooms and Bonus discs on ebay. I don't mind getting it used since the money doesn't go to Lucas.

And a bonus disc plus the 7 disc TR47 makes a nice round 8 for me

Cool, I hadn't thought of that.

Thanks.

I'm not a total purist as far as not inserting anything new like scenes or dialogue into these films, I would still prefer to the the originals released with corrections to the mattes, saber effects and laser blasts.

One of the only scene revisions I'd think are necissary is replacing the monkey Emperor.....I've downloaded and seen the new McDermid holo on the DVD, and although I think it's a slight improvement, I still think it can be improved on...greatly.

Oh yes it can be improved. Get the old monkey emperor back.
