One question I don't think has been asked...does this deal have to get government approval?
And when the deal is done, does Disney write Lucas one of those giant lottery style checks? What if he wants to be paid in pennies? ;)
Where were you in '77?
He likes to get paid in nickels & dimes....
....just like he's been nickel & diming us for decades.

Found this quote while I was looking for stuff to refute our pal FS with, might have been discussed before, but yeah:
TOTAL FILM: "Are you happy for new Star Wars tales to be told after you're gone?"
LUCAS: "I've left pretty explicit instructions for there not to be any more features. There will definitely be no Episodes VII-IX. That's because there isn't any story. I mean, I never thought of anything. And now there have been novels about the events after Episode VI, which isn't at all what I would have done with it. The Star Wars story is really the tragedy of Darth Vader. That is the story. Once Vader dies, he doesn't come back to life, the Emperor doesn't get cloned and Luke doesn't get married..."
BUT WHAT ABOUT THE TREATMENTS?! =P
Oh, Lucas.

Oh, Lucas.
I think he was telling the truth that time, he has no plans,....he didn't have any even after Star Wars, he makes the stories up as required, thats why the last 3 contradicted his first 3

Chewie is technically the oldest character, but looks the youngest. ;)
Where did you find that?

Ewan McGregor & make-up effects Rick Baker show interest on a return to Star Wars (not sure what Ewan would do.....not a clone)

Here's hoping he does or that they at least feel the same way he does about substance over style;
More interestingly, though, make-up legend Rick Baker is up for a return...... "I think the problem that people have with the digital stuff is the problem I have: Just because you can do anything doesn’t mean that you should. Instead of having a spaceship battle with three spaceships, they have 3,000 spaceships. Everything is so big and there’s so much going on, you lose reality. It takes you out of it".

They could certainly olden him up a bit more and do holographic recordings from Ben to Luke, or leave him a bit younger and do holographic recordings of The Clone Wars or his other exploits.
Certainly a lot of room for stuff in that realm.

Seems weird for McGregor to be interested. He doesn't really hold the prequels in high regard. Of course if different people are writing and directing the experience would be different. But given how he's lightly teased Lucas and joked about the greenscreen/CGI and lack of direction with actors, it doesn't seem like he'd be invited back.

If they could make Jeff Bridges younger for Tron Legacy, aging Ewan to Alec Guinness' age in Episode IV ought not to be a problem. It might even be possible to resurrect Alec the way Marlon Brando was brought back for Superman Returns.
Unless they bring Holochrons into the movies, I would think all Jedi records were destroyed or wiped in the purge. Unless Ben was making recordings on Tattooine for twenty years, he simply didn't have time to leave Luke any messages.
Otherwise, we're pretty much left with Force Ghosts. Ben suddenly appearing to Luke after all these years, to warn him of something dire would have impact though.
I have long thought Luke would go back to Ben's house in the Jundland Wastes someday.

Lucas on his role as a consultant:
http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=97668
“[If the filmmakers ask],‘Who’s this guy?’ I can tell them,” he said. “I mean, they have a hundred encyclopedias and things, but I actually know a lot. I can say, ‘This is this and this is that.' Basically I’m not — I don’t really have much to do.”
Eloquently put.

George might actually have a good time without the stress of directing, and worrying about the money side of things.

Good points. I also always figured that Luke would go back to Ben's house, I'm sure he would have left him some repository of Jedi knowledge, however small it may be, so he could carry on the tradition.
I know in Shadows of the Empire, Luke goes back to make his green saber, learning from a book there.
I also know that in one of the single best Star Wars books I have ever read, The Life and Legend of Obi-Wan Kenobi, Luke basically finds Ben's memoirs and his accounts of everything that took place in the prequels, Jedi histories, all that good stuff.
There's a lot of potential there for stuff. Flashbacks, et cetera. Obviously they won't take directly from the EU, but still, similar ideas could crop up.
