maybe true, but some people still deserve to get banned. Trolls can ruin the forum community for some people.
That's when you should use the ignore feature. Why should people have a community not only ruined but taken away from them by being banned just because someone doesn't is unhappy about their behavior?

Why shouldn't I be concerned about someone being rude and annoying to me? Why shouldn't I be concerned about someone disrespecting me or other forum members? Why shouldn't I been concerned about trolls that cause problems for the forum community?
because you believe in free speech? because you believe people should be able to speak their mind even if their opinion is ridiculous or offensive? It seems silly that you believe those things for our country, just not the places where you hang out.
And if a troll is doing all that with a sock account, what is wrong with wanting to find his real account and holding him responsible for the things he did under the sock account? Why shouldn't I care about the forum community, when I've been a part of it for almost 10 years(it will be 10 years in May 2013)?
Myspleen has been around since 2013 (current records only go back as far as 2004) and we dealt with trolls, racists, and extremely offensive/hateful people. Our community is doing just fine.
I get complaints from time to time with demands to ban people and I tell to them to suck it up or ignore them.

I have no authority in the forum. It is Jay's forum and only he can decide who is and who is not to be banned. Sometimes, people that I think should be banned, won't be. Using the ignore the button is sometimes the only other option. Maybe if the person who is annoying you, knows that you are not reading his posts, he'll stop posting the things that annoy you.
Fair enough. I guess I just have thick skin.
You say people have called for you to be banned? what if Jay decided to appease them and ban you. Does that seem fair? Some one can't handle you and so you should be removed??

well, I do admit the having thin skin and a bad temper problem. It is something that I have and continue to work on.

When I was growing up and was the victim of bullying, I was told over and over again to ignore them. It is is much, much easier to say ignore them than it is to actually ignore them.
